pretty sure you said front wheel driven hybrid version at 0:22 or 21 then at about 12:15 you say 1.8 litre hybrid version with front wheel drive so back to original question which is here in US only AWD is offered so model you drove is a Front wheel drive hybrid ?

the 1.8L engine is really underpowered for SUV's. it's good for a smaller corolla, but for SUV's should get using their 2.0 or 2.5L engines. In australia the corolla cross only has the 2.0L engine

As a hybrid this is the best selling Toyota in Finland now I think. This or Yaris cross.

The engine is not struggling. It is merely working as intended. Say it is loud. But do not interpret how it is doing its job.

Loud motor, CVT trans shifts constantly on these hills in the Texas Hill Country, otherwise it's a pretty decently. j

I bought one recently and it has been recalled 4 times and the 1 of those times the brakes failed for about 2 seconds but it never failed again. A word of advice., the electronics screen is not accurate, and if you have about twenty kilometers petrol left in your car, it will be not accurate and your petrol tank might be empty sooner than you think. It is about inaccurate by ten kilometers or so. another thing is that you must never use this car to charge another car's battery. Because it will seriously damage your electrical components and your battery and that will cost you a fortune to repair. And on top of that, if you want your gearbox to last a long time, then make sure you put the car in neutral when you stop at a traffic light for a long time. And make sure the tank is always a quarter full and not less than that, because of the heavy lead at the bottom of the petrol tank of that can cause damage. What's also important is not to try to push this car as if you are in a race. It's very zippy in traffic, but top speed. Do not push it higher than 144 km an hour. And I also find that the seats are incredibly hard, so if you do get one with leather seats, it will be more comfier. And if it's very cold and you have very cold weather you have to start this suv at least once a day to make sure the battery doesn't go flat. And if there is a huge pile of snow next to your car for a long time, your battery will get frozen if it's located on the side or at the bottom of the seat. Mine was located on the side and there was a pile of snow next to my car. And the spare battery actually became a block of ice. I highly recommend that you do not park your suv next to a huge heap of snow next to the road for a long time.

I test drove one of these.
Was really shocked at the droning noise & didn't like the plasticky cramped interior.
Bought a slightly used RAV4 Hybrid instead, for the same money & it's so much better.
