Righteous rant! My wife thinks I'm a bit strange because I said that in some ways I could look forward to a martyrdom. She's as hardcore Catholic as I am, but at the same time cautioned me about "being put to the test". I often pray for God to give me the courage to accept things that may come that I have no control over. In the end, the only thing any of us can really control is our own actions.

Look at what our Lord endured to save all of us. Look at how many martyrs there have been already in the history of Christendom. To be able to rise to that calling would be glorious. However let God's will be done in all things.

My husband and I are going through the RCIA process. Both of us brought up in Protestant faith. In this process I have learned how much God loves me. Also Protestant churches just do not address what to do with demonization. The Catholic Church has always known and dealt with this reality.

What can we all do? As we Orthodox Christians say, “pray unceasingly”, “Lord Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”. And “Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy upon ……. (whomever you want to pray for)”. So simple yet so powerful when repeated.
