This Wick's INGENIOUS! 🔥🤔 #shorts #diy #tips

Carbon Felt has many uses but have you heard of this one? The Ingenious Wick? It is not flammable but it makes a great wick! I know it sounds contradictory but it's true! Because it's not flammable this wick will last a very long time! Once veggie oil has wicked the felt holds a flame! A great bushcraft survival hack! Bring along some compact lightweight carbon felt & oil and you have an emergency heater/stovetop! ⚠️Caution: If you try this use In Well Ventilated Area or Pipe Chimney to Outdoors! & Never leave Unattended. Fyi the wrenches are used to allow air to the flame, otherwise it would go out with the chimney directly in the oil. You don't have to use copper if you're worried about fumes, the coupling is just a vessel for the carbon felt, use stainless steel or??? This is just a test to see how well the carbon felt wicks a heavier oil and holds a flame. I was just using what I had on hand. NO I didn't steal this idea from another channel on YouTube, my father told me about it, yes he watched other videos on the subject. This is nothing new, there are other videos out there on the subject, I just made a short form, people do this all the time. There is a more in depth video on the subject on Robert Murray-Smiths Channel TnT if anyone is interested. I ordered the carbon felt on Amazon. Other felts will not work or will not last because they are not fireproof. Check out part 2 & 3 both short videos! Thanks for watching! #shorts #survival #diy

Thanks for all the support everyone! Amazon is where I ordered the carbon felt from. If you try this be sure to use in well ventilated area. It burns cleaner with a chimney but still produces products of combustion!

I did this in prison with baby oil and old inhaler cartridges. I used to buy solder and flux off the maintenance men and I would fix headphones and hot cell phones and other electronics all day. They called me radio shack. And not for the Cuba gooding movie. LOL

When I was homeless we used to make heaters using an empty tuna can, roll up cardboard and stuff it in the can, then in another empty can you melt down some candle wax, pour it into the can stuffed with rolled up cardboard, gets absorbed into the cardboard and when lit makes a strong flame
Enough to heat food on

The proper use for seed oil: fuel & lubricant. Not food.

My grandparents would mix vegetable oil and kerosene and the old kerosene heater would run ages without having to adjust the wick and for some reason water on top helps to reduce the smell i don't know how it works but it worked.

Robert Murray-Smith experienced with carbon wicks and vegetable oil just like this some months ago. Lots of other usable tips also. Give 'em a peep if interested.

Just a reminder. Always use your vegetable oil as lubricant and fuel, not to destroy your metabolism and body.

It's nice to see that American ingenuity is still alive and well.

The best use I’ve ever seen for vegetable oil because vegetable oil sucks for cooking and it’s terrible for you

Finally, a healthy use for vegetable oil

Try this, and you will find once the oil gets hot in the tray as the copper gets very hot, if you knock over the copper pipe, the whole tray ignites. Just a warning that no one puts in these videos. In the UK we call this a chip pan fire.

Toilet paper works as a wick as well. In Kosovo, I used olive oil in a saucer and just twisted single squares into a wick and mashed the bottom into a base for the wick to stand up.

Glass fibers with a pinch of carbon on the tip works, too and lasts longer. The carbon acts as a catalyst to make the oil burn more easily. The glass fibers will last forever. The carbon gets replenished by the flame. If you try this with glass fibers without the pinch of charcoal it will still work, but it is much harder to get started. You just need a little carbon on the tip to make it work right.

You can also heat a whole house 🏡 on a scaled up, stabilized and upgraded version that will run on any misc scrap oils. Cheaper and more efficient than wood, just might smell funny a little‼️

if u want to make it a better heater, drill a few holes through the pipe above the flame and insert copper piping across the pipe, which will heat up and blow warm air into the room
