What do you think now that it's 2024 and the dust has settled? SNES or Sega Genesis?

I always thought Super Nintendo sucked as a kid. I was really into road rash, Sonic, and mortal combat on the sega

It's a thing for me where refined arcade action has aged so much better than drawling text-heavy RPGs that I can't help picking the Genesis now. Gunstar Heroes, Out Run, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Comix Zone, Space Harrier. It's a question of like, what do I reach for to play NOW? Final Fantasy is great, but I'm not going to play FF VI every day. I can play Out Run EVERY DAY.

I had both as a kid. I was into shooters for Sega and RPGs for the SNES. when the same title was released for both, I always got the Sega version.

SNES exclusives were dope like Mario World, StarFox, Zelda: A Link to the Past 🔥

But I’ll take Genesis for its edgy games. Sonic 2, Comix Zone, Mutant League Football, Rock N Roll Racing!! Plus Mortal Kombat fatalities were better because it had blood. SNES didn’t.

My vote is SEGA Genesis!

Sega Genesis. I had a snes growing up but the Sega was like my best friend during my roughest times. Even jow as an adult its my go to buddy to hangout with.

Super Nintendo molded my gaming tastes as a kid and I still prefer its games today to what Genesis has/had to offer.

I like Genesis games a little more. I like the colors and sound more on Genesis, and the multiplatform games fare better on there from my experience. A lot of them have larger aspect ratios on the Genesis.

Same thing. Im 43 now, i grew up on the NES and then into the "bit wars" of the 16 bit era. As a kid I said SNES... as I have grown, I can now see rhe Genesis for what it was, it was more adult.

One thing I noticed later in life is the SNES tried to push graphics the system couldnt handle which caused slowdown and missing frames. The Genesis went the other route. Toned the graphics down a bit and went full throttle and had no missing frames (think 16 bit fighters, Street Fighter 2, MK1, MK2)

Snes only because I don't play a lot of shooters nor sports games. Plus, most of the time I prefer Snes's sound (there are exceptions though).

SNES had more lovable titles. But Sega was also cool. The consoles had their strong and weak spots regarding game genres.

Genesis for me. That's what I got in the 90s, because of the library of games. Sonic alone makes me somewhat biased towards Genesis. I didn't care for the 16 bit sequels of many of the NES franchise, such as Link to the Past, Super Mario World, and Mega Man X; I prefer the 8 bit for all of those.

We were a Sega Genesis house, too. To this day that audio style does so much for me. Played so many Sega Genesis games (and most of them were somehow bootleg lol)

To many masterpieces on the Snes to deny its Crown. But the Genesis were close second.

I feel the same way, as a kid I had both but play more snes but now as a old man I prefer the sega genesis, to me I feel sega genesis was more for adults and the games are mature, but you still need both as a gamer 😂😂

I downloaded Rom sets for each console recently and went through the entire library of each deleting the games I don’t want. I ended up with pretty much an even amount of Roms for each console so I am convinced there is no clear winner. And we should appreciate we got to experience a childhood with both consoles.

SNES over the Genesis any day of the week. The Nintendo has better use of color and the sound is pretty much always better in any game where the Genesis’ games usually looked dull in the color department and the sound is 100% better on the SNES

I prefer the Sega Genesis. It's entirely personal preference based. Since the Genesis has a faster CPU, quick arcade action games perform better on it. The SNES is probably gonna be your go to if you love RPGs(which I'm not a fan of). Not to say there aren't some great action games on SNES, there are just more of my favorites on Genesis

As a kid who went straight from NES to N64, I always was more interested in SNES. After going back and playing some games from each, I have to lean towards SNES still now.
