I remember years ago when my husband and I were at a video movie rental place and I pulled out a movie of Donald Sutherland's that we'd never heard of. My husband said get it even if it's bad DS will make it good. He was right it wasn't a great movie but watching DS work his acting magic was well worth the watch. RIP Mr. Sutherland. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us❤

Thanks to Donald Sutherland for so many classic movies over the years. Klute, Don’t Look Now, Ordinary People, and so many more. They don’t make them like they used to. Rest in Peace, Donald Sutherland. 🌹

He was one of the best actors ever. He had to perform so different figures and I loved them all. Rest in Peace Donald Sutherland. You will never be forgotten!!😢

Donald Sutherland was Ken Taylor's roommate when they were in University. Two greats for Canada.
His distinct voice will never forgotten.
RIP Donald Sutherland. Thanks for the memories you gave us.

My father was a firefighter, and he said that Sutherland's performance in Backdraft honestly scared him. His glee and almost childlike demeanor is so chilling, because you'll almost forget he's a psychopath. Donald brought everything to his performances and made them memorable.

I was a teenager when I was allowed to watch Klute with my parents. Thought, „who is that weird looking actor?“, he was just great in that movie and his chemistry with Fonda was breathtaking. From then on I tried to watch every movie that he was in. He always stood out with his interesting looks and soothing voice. RIP, I really admired you, dear Donald Sutherland

🇨🇦 Canada has now lost 2 of its greatest. Christopher Plummer and now Donald Sutherland. His performance in Ordinary People affected me greatly. We will miss you.

We know we all die, but it's sad still when we lose a great actor like Mr. Sutherland no matter how long he was blessed to live. There are so many we've lost and will never see in any new movies. May you be resting in perfect peace sir.

I only had one simple encounter with Mr. Sutherland. He called the company I worked with for catering for one of Keifer's birthday parties.
I picked up the phone and an absolutely unmistakable voice said "Hello, this is Don Sutherland,
I professionally avoided my fan girl moment. He was so kind and gracious in our conversation. He was always a favourite for me.

From the Dirty Dozen, MASH, Animal House, Ordinary People and the Hunger Games ... he was part of the fabric of my cinematic life. RIP Donald. You were great.

An underrated actor. We had a house near his in Georgeville, near Magog, Quebec, Canada and saw him a number of times. It's a tiny, tiny, little village, and quite remote, but civilized, and the last place you would expect to see a Hollywood movie star. He had a voice like a foghorn, and a sailboat in the bay. Everyone either didn't know who he was, or left him....and later Kieffer alone. If you google earth it you will see how remote it is. You can pick out the headland and even his large house surrounded by trees, and the Nonsuch moored in the bay. It was rumored that Stallone and Streisand were looking at places there, but we never did see anything of them. That's the great thing about remote areas in Quebec, they are quiet, and everyone respects everyone else's privacy. He had a beautiful Nonsuch sailboat moored under the headland across the lake from our sailing club. He was a fine, fine man, and a fine, fine actor.

A long time ago, I stood next to him at the Museum Store in Century City Mall. He was taller than I had imagined, elegantly and expensively dressed, and he smelled divine!! I looked at him, slightly surprised to recognize him, and he smiled. I've always enjoyed his performances, and I love Keifer. Sincere condolences to all. 😪

I was 12 years old when Die ! Die ! My Darling came out in 1965. Donald Sutherland played a physically and mentally challenged man servant, Robert. I still remember some of his lines from this movie after all of these years !? He stood out in every movie he acted in and was one of the best that ever took on acting as a profession. RIP
