Hey everyone,

My bad. As always, please continue to call me out when I mess something up <3

I don't think the videos you make are trash. The simple and calm style can be pretty refreshing

I was honestly fully expecting to relearn what I did and completely forget a month ago in pre calc, but was surprised, this method is slightly faster than the way I was taught from what I can recall, but you know its summer and as soon as that last class ends you forget everything 🤷

99x = 100x - x = 45 so x = 45/99 = 5/11

aka first!

Thanks! This was really helpful and funny!

The nice thing about using π in the real world is that I can use an approximate fraction that's close enough. I go with 25/8, because I measure everything in inches like a real American.

This is what he did:
Ex. .454545

Using the formula: (decimal×10)-decimal= numerator

So he modified the formula and made the 10 a 100 because the decimal number repeats every 100th decimal place.

So (.454545×100) - (0.454545)= 45

This equals 45 because ((45.454545) - (0.45454545))= 45

Now from there using a bit of substitution he made .4545 = x.

100x - (x) = 45
^ x = 0.4545454545

99x=45 => (45/99)

There is also another way but I'm still formulating the steps for some other stuff.

Hey the method this video showed works for any decimal number.

I was doing and I got the right answer.

× 10) - 0.3673333 = 3.306

I didn't do ×100 because we did that on the first example just to get rid of the repeating numbers. Wouldn't make sense to subtract 45.4545 by 4.5454545. It's hard.

I got from that (3.306/9).
Because

10x - x = 3.306
Which equals
9x= 3.306

Remember x= 0.367333; we substituted that decimal for x to solve for x.

(3.306/9) × (1, 000/1, 000) = (3306/9000) = (1102/3000) = (551/1, 500)

Therefore 551/1, 500 =

Nice.

My homework is duo in 40 mins i cant waste 9 mins learning to rewrite one irrational number to a fraction. Damn! I am unable to see what's next, but I'm going to assume the irrational is just a calculator counter-measure. Ima have to take the L on this problem yolo style. Here's to the rest of the 40 problems not being the same problem type

Why? *111/111? why 99/33? What even is this?

Neat trick! I’m totally going to look into the proof behind this. Thanks for introducing me to this phenomenon.

This video completely lacks any explanation of why this method works... It really makes all the math seem like black magic hand waving when it's really not. I don't think this video did the subject justice because the methods you explain could just as easily could have been explained using problem solving techniques instead of hand waving, but they weren't.

Great video, except for the pointless and stupid intro. Almost lost out on the video, because the intro was so cringy.
