Arduino and Xbee Series 2 (not Series 1) Configuration

This shows the devices and screens for configuring and testing Xbee Series 2 modules between an Arduino and a computer. Video is from an iPhone. Sorry if it's hard to read or shaky. The higher quality settings work the best.

NOTE: References to SoftwareSerial have the pins backward. The first parameter is the receive (RX) pin, the second paramenter is the transmit pin (TX).

I spent too much time trying to get the Series 2 devices working, so I hope this helps someone else get up an running fast with basic settings.

Thanks, saved me time! PD: The problem reading the configuration of the xbee through the serial port was mainly because it was being used for the serial monitor of the Arduino IDE. That's because the serial monitor "opens" the port and doesn't let others applications to acces it.

If you can help, I have 4 xbee to configure but I am still confused in DH and DL. the circuit looks like this:PC + xbee (Coordinator) arduino + xbee < < (Router) arduino + xbee < < (Router) arduino + xbee < < (END DEVICE)

Did you have to do that set up using the USB device for both xbees?

These xbee modules are a joke. I had them working, then they decided to stop. Changing the hardware and components did nothing; it was like they simply decided not to work anymore. Digi is a rip-off artist disguised as a company
