Over the yeaes as I try to lose weight I get down to a certain weight and that attracts more attention from men then I get uncomfortable and put back on the weight. I know intellectually that I need to be more healthy, but my body feels safer with the weight as opposed to being thinner. At 52 I have found that I create my own environment and that I provide safety for myself, I can control a lot in my life as opposed to being a child, where I couldn't. This has helped me with losing weight. I am doing Intermittent fasting, so far its going good. 🙏

I watched this mainly because I’m interested in the mind body connection, but I found a tidbit that spoke to me and THANK YOU Dr for just saying it without skirting words. I was SA’d and have been processing it recently and realized I have been sabotaging myself a lot when it comes to my appearance and my weight as well come to think of it. There is absolutely a level of trying to be what feels safe when it comes to living. I only really started trying again because I realized it was going to effect my career and relationship and it is still majorly a work in progress even tho I previously was someone who stayed thin and dressed well ALWAYS. I am starting to understand why we have these responses on a subconscious level and it’s importance to rebuild a positive relationship with our bodies and appearances at our healthiest.
Thank you for the ah ha moment! 💡

Irene, thank you so much for allowing me to share my experience of caring for persons with obesity. I've enjoyed your work so much, and whenever someone refers to me and I sense the immense amount of dysregulation that can occur while talking about surgery, lifestyle changes, beliefs of worthiness, habits, anxieties etc- I refer them to you and smart body smart mind. I often practice the neurosensory exercises to feel present as an act of mindfulness and teach my clients in front of me- orienting :)

I had the duodenal switch surgery and it’s the biggest regret of my life. The gas is horrible and it’s physically and psychologically draining to say the least. It’s best to get to the root of our issues and trauma and treat it holistically. Bariatric surgery WILL NOT cure binge eating.

I’ve learned so much about the microbiome, nutrients, and just how complex our relationship with food can be. Thank you both

What another fun human you've introduced us to! And lean me learned a lot about where I still have subconscious judgements about people who are overweight; I think I will choose to no longer use the word obese now I know its origin story and I think I can be kinder than I was already being towards others who are heavier than me. Very useful given my work with a wide range of clients! Thank you!

A wonderful conversation, but one of my current pet peeves is "resiliency" --- for hundreds of years, and until very recently, we got along without a Y on the end of that word. But, I can handle this trauma because I'm a very resilient person, someone with a lot of resilience :)

Is there a possibility for taking the program from Erika for one without a galbladder and problems with gut lining?

I am starting to watch this, excuse if it was replied to.
also wanting to get into somatic therapy.

I just started using ozempic, after lifelong obesity and also binge eating (was supposed to get gastric bypass in 2017 but didn’t go through with it due to panic attacks)

Any thoughts on ozempic / appetite suppressants? I think if it ends up helping me, it will be an amazing tool.
Though I realize there are many other issues I will have to deal with not having the food coping mechanism/ addiction

I grew up with whole food, made from scratch very healthy and I still eat that way as an adult. what I have found is that those that grew up with terrible diets still have terrible diets aka I am a health coach so see a lot of different people

Irene, maybe you could invite the famous Dr Bulsievicz to talk more about digestive issues and healthy eating. ❤😊

Wow, I am thrilled about the information offered in this talk, thank you to both ladies, I experience them as beacons of light o:))) each in their field - I myself feel healthy and regulated and would like to read a transkript of this talk since my mothertongue is German ... would that be technically available? Thank you O:)))

How does this surgery effect the energy flow and capacity of the system? If someone is in freeze state already which is the majority of us… how is this artificial and invasive procedure going to help and not create more freeze and more harm overall?

The doctor states people seek her as a last result. I would hope so, after trying the tools in Irene’s program!

BMI means nothing but you 2 talk about it as if meant anything in any kind of practical terms. And surgeon says if the "wrong individual" that sounds morally wrong and also it leaves open that anyone could be "the wrong individual" if their treatment is not suitable for them and it proves ineffective. Funny how Erika tells you that you'd not says someone is cancerous or similar so you shouldn't call someone "obese" and you respond to her talking about "people who were obese". Do you listen to each other? And recently another "obesity" expert mentioned that bariatric surgery is like torture for patients because although they cannot eat more, they still feel hungry. But this expert says they don't experience hunger. I tend to question even more this expert's input

Always wondered how these types of surgeries affect your ability to tap into your body’s true hunger signals….

I saw a video a few days ago where a woman who struggled for years with her weight had surgery and she bitterly regrets it .
After every diet in the planet it was the carnivore diet that transformed her life .
She wishes she had tried that first because bariatric surgery can destroy a woman's hormonal health.
I'm surprised to see this subject in this channel.

It’s not cool to hear you bragging about your self control around treats and then shaming people who don’t have that level of control. That is shaming, even though you claim to be avoiding shaming.

This was soo not my thing even though I have had some struggle with weight and trauma.

Like why do you sit there and nod and agree with this type of surgery while mostly otherwise you are saying things like that this is very unfortunate and mostly unnecessary but when you have chosen a guest you bend over backwards for them? And where is the talk about treating this naturally? Im 40 mins in and and I'm done with listening about a very unatural way to deal with the results of trauma.

Anyone have recommendations of another SE practionaires youtube channel?

Irene is now platforming bariatric surgeons pitching their services? Are plastic surgeons next? Irene's business must be really slowing down..
