shoutout to anyone who has ever used one of those ceramic round brushes as a kid and got it stuck in their hair and had to tear it out whilst crying in pain

different types of brushes:-

- [ ] rat tail comb - hair styling, sectioning of hair, hair colouring, braiding
- [ ] regular comb - 1/2 inch widetooth, haircuts, for knots,
- [ ] wide tooth comb - for knots, can be used in shower with the hair mask
- [ ] teasing comb - no detailing, volumizing hair, gently detangling
- [ ] teasing brush - compressable, bristles are bendable, don't use it aggressively, great to brush out wet hair
- [ ] ceramic round brushes - will act as gentle curling iron, volumizing and curling benefits, depending on size it gives you the curl (size inversely proportional to curls given), used to sleekily smoothen out hair, sometimes they have a detail at the bottom for hair sectioning
- [ ] boar bristle round brush - smooth out the hair really well, take a little bit more effort, used mostly for people with very frizzy hair, lot more grip, they don't heat up, they add a lot of shine and health, distribute oils very evenly
- [ ] paddle brush - if you want pin straight hair, nylon bristles on them are great for smoothing hair
- [ ] mason pearson brush - very expensive but will last lifetime, been around for 100 years, mix of nylon and boar bristles, daily brushings, add shine, distribute oils evenly, flip hair upside down and brush it from roots to ends, helps in scalp circulation, stimulating scalp for hair growth
- [ ] denman brush - doesn’t snag on the hair, doesn’t pull too hard, great brush for short/curly hair
- [ ] round paddle brush - mix of natural and nylon bristles, helps to get flat beach wave look (with blow dryer), doesn’t heat up, helps to keep hair shiny, smooth and healthy

Brushes for hair types:-

- [ ] straight or slightly wavy hair - teasing/detangling brush
- [ ] curly hair but want to make it straight and smooth - wide tooth comb or detangling brush
- [ ] curly hair and want to keep it that way - don’t use detangling brush, use a wide tooth comb
- [ ] straight/wavy hair but a lot of frizz - boar bristle round brush + forcefield
- [ ] straight/wavy but want bouncy curls - ceramic round brush
- [ ] straighter wavy/curly hair - paddle brush, tail comb for partings
- [ ] wear hair naturally curly and don’t wanna blow it out - denman brush (best for curly hair and great for people with a bob)
- [ ] everyday brush for any hair type - mason pearson brush or a mix of nylon and boar bristles brush (any)

Parents: your life is a mess
Me: I’m using the wrong hairbrush type for my hair, what do you expect

Brad should start a series called "Message to Mondo" where people film themselves telling their hair stories and he reacts to them. There are so many people in the comments telling their stories and I can't help but imagine Brad's reaction!

He just casually mentions the attachment on the ceramic round brushes like he didn’t just change my life. THANK YOU, BRAD.

Then there's me who uses a $5 paddle brush for detangling, the shower, blow-drying, and pretty much anything I do with my hair ever. I always wondered why my natural wave is only around in the morning (before I brush my hair) lol

Brad: This $240 brush will last you a lifetime
Me: *Looks over at the $3 brush I've used since 2004*

I would also like to recommend wooden brushes. They're anti-static, so less frizz! And also helps distribute the oil from your scalp evenly and nicely. They're very good for massaging your scalp too, which improves blood circulation... + more sustainable heheh

When you traumatized yourself as a child with a round brush so you don’t touch them lol yes it got tangled. Yes I had to cut it lol might revisit after this tutorial lol

This explains why my mum (a hairdresser) is overprotective of all her brushes and won’t let me steal them 🥴

I have used boar brushes all my life, born in the post war era, that’s a long time. At 70. My hair is still soft with a shine. Helps after a hair cut to get the curls back. Love your show and explanation.
