Today in the workshop i take a Sycamore bowl blank and make a Bowl from it with a live edge at the same time showing what i found to be the fastest and safest way to turn and dry a bowl in one day without feat of cracking . this woodturning was a fun one. as always i turned this bowl on the record power coronet herald wood lathe and used my easy wood tools carbide turning tools . i finished this with lemon oil from chestnut products

Solid tip about the heat gun. I imagine, whilst using this method, you also get a super smooth finish after sanding because you're kind of getting a "grain pop" effect. But, instead of the water popping the grain from the outside before final sanding, the grain is being popped from the wood's own internal moisture as it passes through and then evaporates out of the wood. Another stellar piece, Jamie. Well done, bro. 😁👏👏👍👍

Jamie..that is a beautiful peace without a doubt. We enjoy watching your working and it's always amazing. The only issue we have is the music. There's too many sites that are mute using music now instead of explaining what they're doing and why their choices were what they made. I got a new lathe, new to us because we've never had one before and we watch all the videos we can watch on woodturning and such. I'm looking forward to turning my first piece and see how it comes out. You've all been my teachers on this YouTube but I'm one of those that need to know why you're doing what you're doing. LOL it's just a me thing and we're still going to watch you I just turn down the volume so I can't hear the noise. Keep turning and be safe!

Nice tip Jamie, I will have to try this. Ive tried turning wet and then slowly drying with multiple pings in the microwave which worked pretty well, but never tried the heat gun. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome work as always Jamie & the drying tip sounds great. I've never turned wet wood before so may give it a go using the heat gun method xx ❤

Cool bowl and interesting drying approach. What are those greenish features around 9:31 and 9:47?

I noticed your lathe rocking a bit. I am waiting on the delivery of my Herald. What did you use to weight it down? Sand in the legs? If so how much did you use?

Very nice, Jamie. I wonder, will is still warp over time? Or am I totally wrong in my thinking?
