Lost my JWP this year, it had been well looked after and the watering regime hadn’t changed. After taking it to a specialist it was clear it had been overwatered to my surprise, he put it down to the heavy rainfall we had earlier in the year causing pooling of water in the pot damaging to the symbiotic mycorrhiza. If I had tilted the pot it would’ve been ok.

Thank you Peter for this video. I wish I would have seen this a few months ago, my white pine just died this summer. I repotted it, probably with too much compost causing it to hold too much water in the soil thereby drowning it.

when the current year pine needles turn brown means that they haven't died recently but loooong ago
which in turn means the roots have died long ago
1:24 that thing is unfortunately as dead as can be, RIP :((

Please tell us what happened to it. I work as a gardener for a company working around town and try to rescue trees like this when people throw them out. Even in mid summer I try. And have had some success. Sometimes they survive and I don't know how, except I do use sphagnum moss, as you suggest, if I can find enough of it that I can afford. I wrap them up in it and put them in a pot with soil around that and have saved some trees with rock hard and dry root balls. But not drowned trees, which is rare. This information for rescuing dry and wet trees is vital. So, Peter, please can you tell us if this tree made it. And others like it. Very interesting stuff. Thank you.

I would go mental if I trusted someone with my tree and they did that. I hope the sphagnum moss works

Did the little man shape white pine survived or not? From the earlier video, of which disabled comments. Not meaning anything bad, you couldnt help it. But im seeing that you now check the roots first. If d survive still i would be really happy to know. Even consider buying it if that is possible

About 3 weeks ago I had removed all the leaves from my oak tree. The tree looked to be dying, not sure why. Scraping the bark it's still green and alive but should I now place it in the garage as it has no leaves anyway.

Hi, I´ve got a blue one in a clay-y type of soil in the open (not in a pot) since only two years or so (in-pot-bought), and it dropped quite a lot of needles. I´m wondering if that is still normal for the cold season, or there´s another problem, maybe with the soil or something...
