running on "the economy is not bad, idk why you think its bad, its actually good" was probably a bad idea

I think it’s mostly because people are just tired of it all. Some people that voted for trump are just tired of left wing people getting angry all the time. We’re tired of being told that we’re wrong and evil and all simply because we’re men. We’re tired of being judged because we simply have different beliefs or, god forbid, ask questions. We’re tired of these messages being pushed into our entertainment (movies, music, books, games). We’re tired of our media lying to us. And most importantly, we’re tired of being called names by the liberals who are SUPPOSED to be the superior party.

It needs to be. Working class voters have left the Dems

Focusing on transgender rights wasn't the Democrats' downfall; it was, as you said, the Dems effectively abandoning the working class while purely focusing on Trump without addressing the economic issues that would win back voters. It's telling when progressive ballot initiatives win in the same states where Trump wins. To a working class voter, "universal healthcare" is clear, whereas "opportunity economy" is vague and doesn't address the heart of many of our issues, for example.

There's a way to promote trans rights and an economic agenda for the working class simultaneously. Bernie could've achieved this, but the Dems won't let a true progressive run the party.

So many things played a factor in this. Wokeness in general, the olympics opening ceremony, all the celebrities on Diddy's list who endorsed her (terribly), Joe Biden's "garbage" remark... I mean, many people believe the Bidens may have voted for Trump out of sheer spite. I feel like it's possible. But either way, this whole thing just went disastrously for the left. This outcome was bound to happen. I just want Trump to live up to the hype! All I want is for this winning president to make people's lives better, no matter who it is. I'm not even on any particular political side, I just want logic and reason to win.

This was my first time voting, and I voted for Trump out of spite. I'm all for people living how they want, but the woke movement, especially in the gaming space, was so in-your-face, so condescending, so aggressive & so obnoxious that I just couldn't take it anymore.

Time for the Dems to go the way of the Whigs. A change is needed to reach a lot of apathetic people. This is not an explosion of popularity for Trump. This is a crisis of apathy that needs addressing. I see nobody talking about it on the left. 20 million people stayed home that could have voted. 81 to 66 million is a steep drop in turnout.

The biggest issues right now are huge apathy levels, excessive misinformation from all political sides, and an education system that has been getting gutted for the last 30 years!

Also agree with you on the concession speech. It was the most robotic, scripted, rehearsed speech. She should have been groveling and apologizing and giving people a way forward.

Instead she kept us waiting all night and day in pain, to give us that GARBAGE. I'm absolutely done with this version of the democratic party.

As I was watching the entire map turn red, it started to sink in there is something seriously wrong with the democratic party.

The Democratic Party needs a serious reevaluation after this.
It needs to embrace some form of populism, it needs to embrace the working middle class. No world policing. No foreign wars or entanglements. No more Identity politics.
Talk about the things that will affect ALL Americans, stop talking down to Americans and dismissing them when they talk about concerns that are hurting them.
Stop the demonization and division. Don't talk about how "Evil" the other side is, talk about what you will do to improve American lives.

There is a lot to unpack here and I have deliberately avoided all election response videos because the entire event was giving me too much stress.

I know that you Arch are supportive of the Dems or at least were, because the display they put on stage the past few months was insulting.

If this was the 90’s and early 2000’s I would still be Democrat, even as far as to proudly say so on social media. But today in 2024, I no longer am with the Democrat Party.

Glad to hear you speak on both sides with critical thinking. Not too many people are willing to do that anymore.

I doubt it. Getting rid of identity politics would essentially kill the current version and get some more people on board, but I don't think they'll stop using that tactic.

I fundamentally reject the idea that people voted for Trump because Dragonage had trans people.

The entire country shifted right and Trump’s populist rhetoric about tariffs and deportations resonated with voters. Democrats need an answer for our shitty healthcare, our shitty housing situation, wage stagnation.

She did not go to the Allen-somethin-something-name dinner in NY where Trump was ripping on her, she did not go on to the Joe Rogan show but Trump showed up, and she did show up to her voting crowd on at that Harvard University on Election Night. All of it is careless, and the word lame comes to mind.
There's losing a fight, a battle, but not showing up at all is not success.

Noble as liberal ideals can be, the country has shown that they care more about the cost of milk and eggs. Democrats can still hold true to their social principles, but going forward there really needs to he more detailed, specific, "in your face" economic promises. Bring out lower income folks or middle income folks, have them talk about how their policies helped those income brackets get ahead, etc.

Democrats need a strong figurehead like the Republicans have Trump. I think we are entering an era where there needs to be a constant in your face person or group of people that the public has a lot of brand recognition for going forward.

I know some disagree with me on the next point, but I think that Obama era civility and nice guy rhetoric needs to end.

2 new parties will form from this: the far right MAGA forever and the far left progressives (Sanders, AOC style)
