President Biden and Donald Trump have faced off in the first presidential debate of the 2024 election in Atlanta, Georgia.

The debate was held unusually early in the presidential cycle and gave both candidates the opportunity to try to shape the narrative of the campaign and reach undecided voters. The economy, inflation, immigration and abortion were areas of focus for Biden, 81, and Trump, 78, who are both under scrutiny over their age and mental fitness.
