this makes so much sense haha, I don't know why calc transcendental decides to wait on proving the this in later chapters. It would have been a perfect proof to add immediately.

why does logb(b) which gives 1 I believe, give the result of logb(x^p)=mp and not logb(x^p)=1^mp=1

This is circular reasoning! You are asked to prove why you can 'pull' the power p down and placed in front of the expression. But in your proof, you 'pulled' the power mp down when you had not proved this result yet!
