I’ve used and swore by shimano most my life. I’ve owned several curado gens, chronarchs and SLX XT. I recently took the plunge for a Daiwa coastal SV TW 150 and it has been a dream. Best decision I ever made. All I can say is don’t knock it till you try it. And by try it I mean use it as your everyday for an entire season. I feel that Daiwa has the overall edge in the $220-$260 class of BCs.

The Kage rods and reels are only supposed to be sold in store by pro shops. However, most shops will sell and ship them. They just can't advertise them for sale online. I have seen creative ways around this. One shop I buy a lot from once sold a guitar pick, that shipped with a free kage reel that you could buy on their website.

Got a 7'4" heavy daiwa DXB rod about a month ago still was looking at reels and im glad i waited, definitely looking at that tatula 150... otherwise i woildve done the 100 i already have 1 of the 23 models and love that thing

Is there a new zillion coming out ? I was bummed I wanted to buy the kage but doesn’t make since to buy it without the sv boost. I guess you can just put different bearings in the reel

The new 150 and 200 look like the new 100 frame that came out a year or so ago... that new 150 looks sweet i love my 23 tatula 100 things badass

The Kage rods looks unbelievably good. Sad the reel doesn’t have a boost spool but it’s at least not priced insanely high

Man, on the one hand Daiwa seems to lead the way in quality/features and precision. And on the other hand they seem to purposely create confusion in the real differences from one model to the next. One model will go on and on about its swept handle design yet you can find 5 or 6 other models with the same handle design and it doesn’t even mention it. I get it. You sell more of the same thing if you call it something else. Chevy GMC type deal. All the other major reel brands have the same practice but seems like Daiwa works really hard at it. Wears me out when shopping for a new reel. I guess some customers can buy 4 or 5 reels at a time and they can just pick whatever catches their eye. But one you can only get one reel at a time it can really drive you insane.

Probably no Daiwa for me this year, the ‘24 Steez sv tw was a great pickup for me last yr. Saving my lil dollars for the Alde DC when it drops

I have a JDM Steez A2. I think it has aluminum gearing just like my JDM metanium. Would you recommend replacing the aluminum gears for brass replacements?

If they were planning on updating the Tatula TW 150, they should have waited and used the new frame for the SV 150.

Looks to be a slightly different from the one of the tatula sv variants. For the price, rather get jdm zillion or comparable jdm shimano reel and avoid that daiwa usa upcharge.
