Canta for Android Can Uninstall Bloatware System Apps without Root Access

Today, I want to highlight an application called Canta.
It's free, open source, and can be downloaded directly from F-Droid or its own GitHub page.

With Canta, we can uninstall bloatware system apps without needing to have root access.

However, Canta does require that you have Shizuku setup ahead of time.
So if you aren't familiar with Shizuku. . .or would just like some help setting it up. . .then please check the video description below for a dedicated guide I have here on the channel that will help.

Basically, Canta is going to execute the ADB commands to remove pre-installed apps that cannot be deleted.
But with Canta, we don't have to execute those individual ADB commands since the application will do that for us in the background.

So as mentioned, we do not need root access for Canta to work. . .but it does require you to have the Shizuku service up and running.

With Shizuku running, we simply need to load up the Canta application
And then begin looking for an application that we would like to uninstall.

There's a "only System" option that we can enable from the 3-dot menu icon.
And this is also where you can select which type of uninstall list you want to use.

Canta leverages the Universal Debloat List badges that has been established by the community.
However, I still advise that you be careful about what you uninstall with Canta.

I've used the Advanced List in the past on a HyperOS device from Redmi and that resulted in a bootloop.
Even blindly following the Recommended list may not be ideal for all devices.

So be aware of what you're trying to uninstall.
And definitely create a backup of your important data ahead of time.

Today, I'll use the Calculator app as my example.
As you can see, we cannot uninstall the application from the App Info page.
And we only have the option to disable it.

But when we go into Canta and find it in this list.
you can see it's labeled Recommended. So it should be safe to uninstall.

We do that by selecting it via the box to the right.
And then tapping the trash can icon in the bottom right corner.

if this is your first time using Canta, you will get this Shizuku prompt asking for access.
Naturally, we're going to grant this so that Canta can remove the Calculator app from our default user account.

With that done, we can no longer find the application in the app drawer or the home screen
because it has been uninstalled from our device

this is the same as executing the ADB commands that I usually recommend here on the channel.
but the canta application can be a more user friendly method, so I wanted to highlight the application here today.

If you ever want to bring back the application, we can use this second tab to do so.

and it will bring back the application and its icon so that we can use it again

If you have some bloatware that you'd like to remove from your Android device, check out Canta if you're familiar with setting up Shizuku because it's quicker for those who do not like to mess with ADB commands.

My mother has a Redmi Note 7, a 6 year old phone, that has now began to show problems, the most annoying one being that it randomly restarts. Xiaomi phones being themselves and riddled with bloatware and spyware, I decided to give this app a try. As soon as I de-bloated the phone, the randomly restarting problem is resolved and the phone runs a lot smoother now. This app is great.

What happened if you delete some apps with it, then you uninstall Canta?


Do the "restore point" still exist even if the Canta is uninstalled?

Or it's gone forever even if you reinstall the Canta?

This doesn't work when i try to uninstall samsung pay framework, it shows the app in the uninstalled apps but the app hasn't been actually uninstalled and you can still find it in the system

I used Canta and went through the list and got rid of a bunch of "recommended" apps. Now I can't get into my galaxy store as it says "sign into your samsung account to use galaxy store." But I click on the blue sign in button and nothing happens... And Canta isn't allowing me to restore the files/apps. Mistakes were made... 😮‍💨

great video. for me, my only problem is file picker with error "cant select this folder" when i want to select file from /Android/data path. i heard it begin since android 10. even with root, i cant do much. to access /android/data i can do it using mixplorer. but fike picker(want to backup from nextcloud, syncthing, etc) isnt allowed. sorry for my bad english.

You can also use system UI tuner without root but use wireless debugging. Who really needs root then? I'm on Samsung snapdragon now s23fe. So this is how I have to use these kinda apps.
