Southport victim funeral: 'forever in our hearts'

Mourners gathered for a “special day” to celebrate the life of Elsie Dot Stancombe, a seven-year-old girl who was killed in the Southport knife attack.

A horse-drawn carriage arrived at St John’s Church in Birkdale, near Southport, on Friday morning for the third and final funeral of the young victims, after services were held to honour the lives of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Bebe King, six.

Her family walked behind the carriage in a procession from their home, as mourners wearing bright colours and pastels gathered outside the church. A pink carpet led to the entrance, which was adorned with a balloon arch, while nearby streets were decorated with ribbons.
