Anyone who is a parent will know how absolutely stressful it is when a child cries and there is nothing that will soothe them. Downright traumatizing sometimes. Good to have a resource like this. Thank you.

Thank you for this. When I worked as an EMT before I was a medic myself, I responded to a 911 call for an inconsolable infant. The medic I was with berated that mom and I pulled him in the other room and told him that I'd rather make a call for an inconsolable infant than one that suffered an injury or death as a result of non-accidental trauma. I told him that he needed to shut up and leave the house and send the supervisor because his behavior was beyond unacceptable. That poor mom was doing the best she could for her baby and that person made her feel awful for doing the best she could.

I’m a foster mother who takes in drug exposed newborns. I know every trick in the book! I wanted to hug that momma. She looked overwhelmed. ❤

My nurse friend advised me to put my baby in a bath and let her have a good kick and cry. The kicking allowed the wind to be released and moved a stool. Happy baby, happy mum. That baby now is 47 yrs old and still whinging 😂

Thank you for sharing. My eldest daughter had terrible colic. I used to lie her belly down along my arm with the heel of my hand at her tummy and walk up and down the stairs. It seemed to help the gas move out. Thankfully when I had my younger daughter I was able to buy bottles that stopped the baby swallowing a lot of air. It can be very frustrating for a new parent and needs to be talked about more!

You can almost see the relief in parents' eyes when you tell them that they're not doing anything wrong and that the little crumbsnatcher is doing what crumbsnatchers do. I have worked in many impoverished areas where parents- for whatever reason- have a tough time without much support and they simply need some instruction and reassurance. I try to provide that as best I can.

So hard to diagnose the little ones when they cannot talk or express what is distressing them!!
