The time lag between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat is 2 hours. It is because of the longitudinal extent of India which is about 30 degrees. Because of this huge time lag, india has a standard meridian known as IST or Indian Standard Time. On the basis of this meridian the time is shown to every part of the country. That is why even though there is a time lag of 2 hours between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat the watch shows the same time

hw answer-The longitudinal gap between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat is about 30°. Due to this, there is time lag of about two hours between these states. Since Arunachal Pradesh is in the east, the sun rises earlier here compared to Gujarat. As we have only one time zone, the Indian Standard Time is taken from the time of Standard Meridian of India and hence, the watches show the same time in both the states.

The time difference between any two longitudes is 4 minutes. The longitudinal difference between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh is 30. Hence there is a time lag of 2 hours as one moves from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. To avoid the confusion which could have been created due to following of different local times, the Indian Standard Time has been fixed at 82 degree 30 minutes east.
