Amazfit GTS review. Worth it over Amazfit Bip? In-depth | Test heart rate & GPS running & cycling

The Amazfit GTS smart watch has a high resolution AMOLED always-on display rivalling an Apple Watch, heart rate and sleep monitoring, and built in GPS tracking with 12 activity types. All contained in a thin 50m waterproof aluminium body with up to 14 days of battery life.

For around £110 or $140 it sounds good value. But it’s considerably more expensive than the still popular Amazfit Bip I reviewed a while back, and it’s not far off the price of comparable offerings from big names like Garmin. Let’s find out if it’s any good.

Good and detailed review, but I won't upgrade my beloved Bip to the GTS, mainly because it's incredible legible always-on display in well lit environments, with no impact on battery life (transfective technology). I've heard the GTS always-on halves the battery life, and is still very poor to read outdoors. The Bip does all the important things that GTS does, and with the Notify and Fitness app you can export data, control music ++. I also like the more discrete size of the Bip.


With the Bip and GTS, you can design your own watch faces from the ground with the right tools.



TIP: If you own the english version (non-latin firmware) of Bip, you can install a very legible bold font called made by a russian guy, which includes basically all western characters, and a number of emoji's as well. You can install it independently from Bip firmware with Notify and Fitness on android or AmazTools on iOS.
