Thanks for this very inspiring video. It is simple and easy to follow. I have been browsing for how-tos of hydroponics and mostly it is complicated and costs so much. I just wanna try a simple one. I will try this. Wish me luck🤗

For anyone watching this 6+ years on… clay aerated pebbles are super light and can’t ‘smash’ a root - seedlings manage perfectly well in gritty soil in nature etc. I’ve found it’s best to hold seedling in an empty net cup and then start filling it with pebbles rather than vice versa.

Great! Thanks for the step by step instructions! This looks pretty simple to make! After watching, I made a net cup out of a guac container and stuck a cutting of my pothos in my aquarium, haha!
Ill head over to check out the tomato update video!

Don't worry about the keyboard warriors. It takes effort to put these videos up. If you dont like it, dont watch. My only criticism, roots dont like light, and clear containers will get algae in the root system. Its nice to see the root growth, but more beneficial to be dark for the root system. Also, rockwool can give a nice footing for your roots instead of threading it through the clay balls. Use clay balls to fill around it. An air stone helps as well.

I made my containers with a cheap plastic bucket, a plastic plant pot base flipped upside down on top of the bucket, and a hole, or holes cut into the makeshift lid for net pots, or single larger pot.

To keep algae down, wrap the jar in aluminum foil.

You get the bean for getting me started.

I would suggest covering the jars with Al foil or painting the jars to avoid growth of algae in the water. Keep on growing.

What size of net cup and what size of canning jar did you use? I really want to grow cherry tomatoes to go with my basil and lettuce.

It would be useful to see a producing plant. Also, will apartment dwellers without a South facing window need grow lights, or will an East facing window suffice? Good video, very inspirational.

That was a nice and informative video Braxton. It is my first foray into home hydroponics. So, aside from the learning info, I liked the last part best where you showed a few picks of your growing area set up. They gave me a few easy ideas.

Thanks for sharing what’s working for you, I wanted to try to grow a few little kitchen herbs and basics but most make it too technical and I think, “that’s way more than I want to invest time and energy in, I’ll just buy them, ” but you show it can be an easy little setup. Thanks for sharing this for those of us who want to know. And just remember, those guys griping could have stopped playing the video anytime they wanted to, I’m glad you left it up for those of us who are looking for a simple way to get started. Thanks!

Thx man. I knew what I had to do but not how to do it. I didn’t know about the expanding clay balls. Good job! Thx again
