P-51 Voodoo Mustang

Edit (April 2016): Sorry for the absence of a soundtrack on this video. The YouTube Music Police hammered me for using music that was Royalty Free and then it wasn't. Nice scam. I had to remove the song and therefore the sound of the plane.

We would appreciate your help on this one. About eight years ago, a local dealer brought in a whack of these low cost balsa P-51 Mustang Voodoos, all in the gnarly Purple People Eater color. A couple of our club members bought some of these kits and Danny got bored enough to finally put one together.

There is no reference to any manufacturer anywhere on the plane, the box, the manual or anywhere else. Actually, the boxes were all labelled Dego Red but all of them were the purple Voodoos. Not that it matters a great deal but if you happen to know who made this kit, please let us know.

This particular plane is a bit underpowered but still flies well.

Here are some of the details that Danny provided about this plane:

Make - Chinese (manufacturer unknown)
Model-P51 Voodoo pylon racer
Servos-Rudder, Ailerons, Elevator, Throttle, Flaps all Hitec HS-425BB
Retracts Futaba FP-S136G
Receiver-Spectrum AR-9000
Motor-OS 61 2stroke
Retracts-Great Planes
Battery-1800mA NiMH
Wing span-64"
Fuse-56"
All up weight-Aprox. 8.25 Lbs

It flies well in calm conditions but is a handful in windy conditions like today. Like many Warbirds, it can stall easily if flown too slowly. Yanking on the elevator is a bad idea as well, and will result in a nasty spin. Flaps are a must on landing.

I acquired one of these planes about 5 years ago, it had been through a crash. Looks like a wingtip strike on landing and then cart wheel. The spar broke about 3" from the left tip and then when the nose hit, it broke loose a bunch of glue joints along a number of the ribs. I do plan on repairing this plane eventually I will also be converting it to electric. I paid $80 for it, I figured it was worth it for the retracts alone which still function normally. I have been wondering who made these planes, I'm glad I found this video, now I know!

This Voodoo Mustang ARF is made by Will Hobby. For sure. I still have one NIB waiting to be flown. Will probably go with a 91 4 stroke.
Nice video. Thanks for posting.

This is a very wellmade plane by TWM, China, the world's model company . I bought one recently have not flown it yet, have a .55 OS Nitro on it . Will try to maiden it this week . I heard of it being intermediate to advance pilot skills . So i am staying off it for now till more practise on my simulator .

A relative of mine has 2 of these. Both Electric. He clipped the wings 2 inches on each side on one wing. Very pretty to look at.

I see that this is an old video, but I got one of these that I picked up off a guy that is exactly like your triple threat. Did you ever figure out the manufacturer of the model. I've looked at the VQ voodoo, the World's Models voodoo and they all had different designs and factors that didn't match up with the ones we have? Thanks.

Heyoo, just bought one myself, including an os max .61 FX. Could you tell me where the CG should be?
Indeed none of the manufacturers have 64" plane listed.
Thanks in advance and thanks for the video.
