I got a new cat from the vets office after mine had died. She had been thrown from a balcony and was SO afraid. They needed a safe place for her so I adopted her. It’s been five months and, although Baby seems to be doing better, she sleeps under the covers of my bed all day long. Eventually she’ll come out in the evening and interact some with me but I’ve never had a cat like her. I’m not sure if she’s hiding or if it’s normal for her. She’s definitely afraid of any one who comes to the door and other noises. I hope I can help her adjust to her new life.

The fact that you need to give them freedom and their own space to make them want you makes me happy. It is the perfect pet for me. Dogs require so much attention to be happy.

My cat is actually very fond of other cats.. It’s just his previous owner locked him inside a tiny bathroom for the first 3 years of his life. He was living in his own feces. I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to make more “friendly” but I’m just very glad we saved him

I adopted a cat from Cats Protection at the beginning of July. She is a 13 yr old Tortie, and little was known about her previous life. I hadn't had a cat for over 20 years! She was extremely shy and nervous at first, but, nearly 4 months later, she is just starting to relax. There's quite a way to go yet, but I can see the progress that has been made. As frustrating as it was for the first couple of months, I wouldn't trade her for the world!

I adopted a shy kitten and the only time I have to physically pull him out is when he has to eat or go to the litter box. He's so shy, he doesn't even do that on his own. But wish me luck!

Just got a new cat, She is super nervous and behaving like dog, She's sticking her tounge out and breathing heavily and running around the house like she was chased by a ghost, it's just only few hours with her and I almost already give up on her lol

I don't have trouble with other cats coming into my house. I have no cat flap. Oliver is an indoor cat and is scared of everyone except me. If anyone comes to the door he runs and hides. This causes problems at the vets as he is so scared.
