I've had good luck with my DSM's, never left me stranded yet. My buddy Andrew has a 2g making 490whp and he's never had anything but his turbo blow in the 8 years since he built it, he daily drives it all summer.

Played with DSMs for 20 years now and still continuing to do so. If you build a DSM correctly, you will have no issues and they can be reliable. I've owned my 2G Eagle Talon for 20 years as I currently still have it (61k) and will not give it up. Currently I own 4 because DSM4LIFE 😉👍🏻

I have owned my dsm since 2003 and have been making over 500hp since then extremely reliably. Also I know of more Supras that have gotten crankwalk then the earlier 2g 7 bolt motors, crank walk is so over played with the haters. Also I know Civics break way more than any of my 4g powered vehicles.

Crank walk is caused by not putting the 12mm bolt on the bottom back side of the transmission in causing excessive force on the main journal bearing when pushing in the clutch.

Still a sweet platform. Highly respected in the drag scene.

I have a 3g, and even though it was kind of the right choice as a daily driver, the looks of the 2g remain unbeatable in the eclipse world.

Love my Galant VR4 and definitely will be doing more upgrades to it. Would love to have a 400 wheel horse daily.

Owned many of dsms since i was 15 years old. My 98 gst made close to 500. After a couple years missing it i just found a 96 gst spyder 120k bone stock one owner with a binder full of service work from mitsu for 2 thousand dollars. Paints immaculate, as well as interior. Runs like the day it was bought. My 98 crankwalked before I built it with a 6262 turbo. These are not complicated cars at all the more you dig into it the simpler it becomes. Maintenance is the key and they can be as reliable as any other car .

Map should go to the shootout again. I only buy parts from vendors that still support the event. 2022 Buschur is adding multiple new classes.

As a previous DSM owner in order to get 500hp is not just fuel and tune. Need bigger rods, bigger turbo than the historic evo3 16g turbo, upgraded fuel system, and lastly tuned. Now I own a 01 Audi TT and man it feels like I own a DSM all over again. Just different countries and higher maintenance.

Actually, as a former DSM Tuner, the 4G63 was actually used not just in the Evo 8/9, but ALSO every single Lancer Evolution ever made as well as multiple generations of its predecessor; the Galant VR-4. From 1987 to 2008, over 20 years straight of this motor. It’s not just a Legendary tuner motor, it’s is probably THE most famous and ubiquitous tuner motor of all time. Other legendary motors at the time were the Nissan SR20-DET, 2JZ-GTE, and B16/18 just to name a few. This was the greatest era of tuner cars, ever.
