They dont know, the reporters have no idea what is going with this trade.
One day they said Demp was not answer the phone, the next the day they report the Lakerd have been talking with them since Tuesday.
This is what happens when you over cover a story.

I hope Kyrie leaves Boston not only cause it would benefit the Lakers but so the org gets Karma for I. Thomas. And Boston is know for screwing other teams on trades.

I'd rather stay put... keep this squad together and sign FA this summer.

Magic is selling low at first. It's great sales technique. You act as if giving up more is a burden, when in reality, you are willing to give it up all along. Gotta play the game

Lakers are being smart. You do not phone them up, like all these media idiots have been saying, and say "YoU CaN HaVe ANyThiNg u WaNt OK?!?" It's a terrible strategy and all it does is vastly undervalue your assets in the context of the trade, nor do you throw everyone in to start, if you open with your absolute best offer then you have nowhere to go and the team will sense your desperate and that offer may be on the table indefinitely. You need to start with lower offers so Pelicans have a reminder of where the floor is, this means if they think when the summer rolls round and Irving may not resign with Boston and AD will make it clear he won't either, the Knicks may not get a good pick that would leave them completely exposed to the Lakers and these lower offers again. It effectively gives them the threat of what they could end up with in the Summer, so that when before this deadline they do get the absolute best offer they may decide to pull the trigger now if the deal does include a Kuzma/Ingram and zo or zu with a few picks and go forward with a new young core who are all friends and have chemistry, opposed to trying to rebuild with picks which are just effectively unproven NBA prospect rookies, the Lakers are offering 3 legitimate rising stars instead. In my opinion the biggest threat to the Lakers right now is actually if the Knicks got the #1/2 pick and decided to flip Zion or Barrett and first rounders for Davis if they can't land 2 free agents this summer.

Did you guys see the initial offer for AD? It didn’t include Ingram .That shows they value him more than kuzma . Also, I wonder how rondo, lance, and Stephenson would feel about being included in the initial offer. I am really tired of this, stop holding the man hostage.

i have a feeling nothing is going to happen. Noone wants the lakers to succeed again. Pelican front office is not going to cooperate.

I oddly enough think they are closer to a deal than the reports are leading on. I think they are 1 or 2 pieces away and NOLA is trying to use Woj and Shams are leverage. Too much is leaking its almost sloppy how things are leaking from the NOLA side. I think they are close on a deal they are just trying to get a few more maybe its assets or another player. Id Imagine one of the main 3 young guys is left out of the best deal and NOLA wants that player whether is Ball/Kuz/BI. I think NOLA wants all 3 and Lakers probably put together a good offer but left one of those players out. So the Pelicans are releasing this info. to get the 3rd player added. It feels like a fake release since Woj and Shams reported the same thing but different players, yet both are getting info from the Pelicans side. I think the trade happens probably Sunday during the 2nd quarter of the superbowl

Crazy rumors. I don’t see the Lakers getting AD before the trade deadline. Seem to me that teams hates the Lakers and refuse to do business with them 😂

We have A LOT of options this summer (mostly unrestricted free agents/a few player options list): Leonard, Irving, Durant, Butler, Middleton, Thompson, Tobias Harris, Vucevic, Cousins, Gasol, Jordan, Horford. I think we should try to sign a free agent this summer first before we try trading for Davis. I think the media is trying to undermine the value of Lonzo, Kuzma, and Ingram. I've never witnessed the media be so manipulative towards our team. They don't want us to win!

Mark my words, Lonzo isn't going anywhere. Magic and LeBron won't give him up.

Basically the Pelicans wan't more picks and make it impossible for the Lakers to get even better in F.A., and that's why they are demanding more picks and salary release. Nothing would hurt the Lakers more than that. Not even losing all of the youngsters. They could offer two picks but no more than that, cause it would jeopardize their future in case something goes wrong. They can't take more salary if they wan't to improve the team an get another star in FA. The Lakers can't get tricked into shooting themselves in the foot. Patience.

Now all of a sudden .. it’s great for the NBA to have super stars on the Lakers and be in the playoffs, but no one was talking about that in 2011 when they nixed that Cp3 deal

Oh yeah, I definitely think you are on the right track with your assessment. You’re a guy that tells the truth with your opinions and insight, a lot of these other guys on ESPN and such do and say things to get ratings. It makes perfect sense for the Lakers to not put all the chips on the table yet because the Pelicans may accept less you never know. On the other hand the Pelicans are going to ask for the moon from the beginning because they might get it. It’s just all a game when really think about it. All signs point toward the Lakers being able to trade for AD everything is just set up too well for another team to interrupt that.

I am done with this, I'd rather just keep the team we have and wait until free agency!!
