These two participated in possibly the greatest finals of the 2000s. I have never seen a closer series. It was the end of a certain type of basketball.

I remember watching Wallace, Duncan, Parks and Smith go at it in college. That was great basketball

was Timmy’s toughest 1v1 matchup imo. Been a Spurs fan since 2nd grade when our lineup was Drob, Willie Anderson, The Ninja, AJ and Terry Cummings

I will always remember that finals against Detroit. Rasheed was absolutely cooking. As complimentary as Rasheed is about Tim, Rasheed was unstoppable especially in those last two games. And then Detroit went away from him in the post in the final game. Had they continued to get him the ball we may have lost to Detroit. But for whatever reason he just didn’t get the touches. Rasheed was an excellent player scary good. Great video.

I've always believed the '05 Finals was THE toughest playoff series for the Spurs. Guys like Sheed, Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Chauncey Billups all just had no quit in them. They were utter menaces on the court, and every possession had me holding my breath, even as a 10 year old kid watching it all play out

Rasheed Wallace at UNC with Tim Duncan at Wake Forest and Joe Smith at Maryland led to some epic battles. And TD was only 17 when he arrived at Wake.
