I had a major AHA moment in my guitar playing recently and I want to share that with all of you! In this video I’ll show you one way to go about combining your scales with your triads in order to get more out of your guitar playing. This is a fun way to enhance your solos, connect with chord progressions and improve your fretboard knowledge and mastery.

Leave any questions in the comments! I love chatting about this stuff

As soon as I switch to the D my brain sees the D-major scale and I lose visualization of the G-major scale. I’ve been fighting it for years.

i think it may have all finally clicked for me, with each triad shape no matter the chord you are playing you are still in the g major scale shape correct? although you could also change to the d major scale over the d major chord as well right? thats the bit that always confuses me

I get this but what I struggle with is phrasing, I end up playing the same phrases.. its like I am almost there but I never reach the finish, if you know what I mean..its really frustrating.

My problem isn't even about the knowledge part and knowing the scales and triads. Since I'm a beginner, I want to know how to play something with them instead of just noodling around and finding what sounds good. Like, how do I now play some of those licks with the triads or do they just come on the fly and if so, how can I make them start coming on the fly for me too? 😂
