Is the universe a giant brain? 🧠

This thought is more common than society thinks, I remember this being coined countless times while getting stonned with college mates yonks ago lol 😂 honestly miss those times.

I think it would be more accurate to call them interpretations rather than insights. Because when you come right down to it, it’s probably very unlikely that anybody has experienced anything that is not simply a different interpretation rather than an insight into some kind of incontestable truth. Just like we think the consensus reality is completely true, people who start to experience differences from that start, claiming that those are the new truth. They’re entitled, and they’re entitled to live very differently because of that but if they were really honest, they’d have to admit that it simply a new interpretation of what’s actually going on. A belated spiritual teacher of mine named Peter Brown used to say we can’t really know what’s happening, but we can know that we are experiencing it. When I ran across Hoffman, it seemed like it fit that. It’s really rather paradoxical that we talk about the brain because I’m pretty sure Hoffman says that the brain isn’t what we think it is, either.

Sometimes/ often it gets too intense thinking about this idea while meditating.
It's enjoyable but I lose quite a bit of sleep because of it.
It is believable though, it does seems to be the case, everything being one thing, a large, non-local neural net.

The Idea of The World by Bernardo Kastrup was a fantastic book, this clip just reminded me of it.

Insight is a psychological phenomenon that requires no intervention on the part of non-local cosmological events. Likewise, psychedelic-induced feelings of connection are just that—feelings. I’m glad everyone is so open minded, I truly am, but try not to let bats fly around in there.
