ADHD Insights Cognitive Ergonomics and the Importance of Context | AttentionTalkVideo #ADHDInsights #CognitiveErgonomics #ImportanceofContext

Jeff Copper discusses the importance of cognitive ergonomics, a field he's developed to fit tasks to individual cognitive abilities. He explains that many people with ADHD focus on solutions without understanding the underlying context, leading to ineffective strategies. He uses the analogy of a calendar question to illustrate this point, emphasizing the need for self-awareness to recognize when one is jumping to conclusions without considering the full context. Copper argues that self-awareness is crucial for breaking this pattern and making meaningful changes.

Since I found I have ADHD 9 years ago, shortly after I found your channel, some of the stuff you say works for me and some is not for me, but it gives me ideas to formulate tactics to work out my life.
Thanks to your ideas, 4 years ago after working with myself for 5. I entered to finish my education and got my GED. Now I am in a junior college, and amazingly, I've been getting lots of A's and I'm top of my class.
Yes, it probably takes me three times more to accomplish school but the effort is worth it.
I want to thank you for all your advice because it helped me to navigate my life after a long time. I'm 50 now and had accomplished more in this past 9 years than the first 30 .
Thank you!!

I'm not sure if this is what your video about but it does make me think about how I will put effort into the current thing I'm thinking even when I'm aware that it might not even be something I should be doing vs something else. Like driving across town to buy a game instead of, I don't know, work on something important on my todo list.
