Can you be trans and
not have dysphoria?
Of course! You can be trans if
you think you’re trans.
That’s literally the only
requirement. Um, there are plenty of
people who don’t
experience gender
dysphoria, but maybe experience
gender euphoria. So, they’re not
necessarily upset with
where they’re at, but
there are things that delight them about
different gender
presentations than they
have been taught are
acceptable for them
to have. I can tell you, for me,
personally, it took four
or five years of being
out as non-binary to really start
experiencing any
dysphoria related to
my physical body. So, it wasn’t until after
my top surgery that I
actually felt that lift. Like, I was on
antidepressants for
years, and I just
thought “I’m a
Millennial, the world is sort of
ending (climate
change, all of that),
everything is hard, of
course it is”. Turns out, there’s a
good chunk of that
that was dysphoria
and I just didn’t know
it at the time. Um, there’s plenty of
people who never have
that dysphoria, and
that’s okay, too. You can still be trans
without dysphoria.
