I live with my mom and was able to watch this video get our toilet flushing again without having to pay a plumber to come over. Very informative and detailed. Thank you so much!! I feel very accomplished and proud of myself! Any woman can do it!

13:23 "The smooth goes to the bottom of the siphon". OMG THANK YOU! This is the fourth video I've watched on this subject and yours is the first one to include this small but vital piece of information.

I just fixed my toilet thanks to you and this video. Excellent, thank you so much! There's no way we could afford a plumber, we do have insurance cover for such things but there's a £60 excess and considering I just fixed it myself for next to nothing, I can't thank you enough.

I've just fixed my toilet thanks to this video! Initially it was leaking from where the pipe enters the toilet itself. It's been like this for months if not years. I'd tried to seal it several times with only temporary success. I had no idea it was a simple as replacing a rubber fitting! Then, just recently, it's been getting more and more difficult to flush the toilet, until a couple of days ago it just became impossible. A quick YouTube search and I found this video! Not only have I managed to get the toilet flushing again but I've also fixed the leaky flush pipe! What I will say is that the nut under the cistern needs to be done up stupidly tight. I kept having leaks until I did it up really REALLY tight. Total cost was less than £15, and that included the pliers I needed to buy as well! Thank you for your help 🙂

Toilet decided to go and break a couple of days before Christmas! To avoid high call-out fees or a lengthy wait into the New Year I decided to see if I could fix the problem myself. I come across this video and it was great!! I’m a complete novice but I found Derek very easy to follow. I was able to replace the syphon on a close coupled toilet in under an hour, and that was taking my time and taking the opportunity to give the cistern a good clean behind it.
The replacement syphon cost a little under £7 and works perfectly. Thank you very much!

this was super helpful. I just got quoted £240 for changing the siphon and £350 for changing the cistern. Now I can see how easy it is I feel that the price is ridiculous. Many thanks.

I saw a video where the design of the toilet required removing the whole cistern from the wall! I am so glad my toilet was like this video. Very easy to follow, job done in about 20 minutes. I was unable to remove the pipe due to bad design around the toilet, so used the old washers, but so far it hasn't leaked. Excellent.

Thanks a lot, for showing us the method to replace the Syphon. We are having this similar problem. I have the confidence to do it myself now.I am a pensioner, so this will save me some money. You are brilliant at teaching practical methods.

Explaining the principle of ciphonic action was incrredibly helpful and is what makes this video superior to others

Thanks so much Derek. Have been waiting for a plumber to replace my siphon but it's impossible to get a plumber for small jobs as they're all too busy on big building jobs these days. Watched your video and had a go myself and it took me less than an hour. 🙏

A short piece of rubber hose, fill with water while holding a finger over bottom end - place in cistern and point into bowel at a point lower then the bottom of the cistern will create a vacuum and drain the water. Lot easier than using a cup.

Wonderful information. A big thank you for explaining the different WC types, I would have purchased the wrong parts until I watched your video. Very nicely done and thank you for your time and effort.

Thank you, I have wondered how the modern systems function. I do appreciate how clearly you presented it.

Ah, you've saved me.
I followed your instruction up to the baling out when I remembered that I have a 12v oil extractor pump lying around.
I rigged it to a 12v power adaptor and the job was painless. I repaired mine instead of replacing it by swapping out the diaphragm.
Thank you for your help.
