Millions of Americans could face homelessness as a federal eviction moratorium comes to an end this week. Housing advocates are raising concerns over a surge in evictions, saying it could trigger another wave of COVID-19 as the Delta variant fuels new infections. CBS MoneyWatch reporter Irina Ivanova joins CBSN AM to discuss.

So basically Covid is here to stay, by design, vaccinated or not.

It is NOT the landlord's responsibility to give you free room and board! People just assume that all landlords are wealthy but many struggle when they have deadbeats. Get a roommate or find a less expensive apt. Grow up and figure it out!

They're just upset that the free ride is ending.

Plenty of jobs available. Your still liable for back rent. Their just taking advantage of the pandemic. I feel sorry for the landlords.

I lost my job 4 months ago and filed for unemployment and rental assistance and still have not received a dime from either. The money might be out there, but getting it is a horrible problem. If I would receive my unemployment I could easily pay my rent while I am looking for a good. Bad for everyone

Get ready for even MORE tent cities and streets lined with broken down RVs!!! I'm already living in an old broken down RV on the street myself! The pandemic ruined my life!

Enough is enough. Dead beat tenants must face the repercussions of being irresponsible.

Extending it will not help in the long run

The government is stepping in to protect renters and... mortgage owners, but what about the property owners who have ongoing expenses that continue while your tenants are not paying rent. Over time these mount up and the burden shifts to the landlords where there may be a partial protection for their own mortgage, but they may be just a percentage of what it takes to keep a property habitable and meeting the tenant's needs. If you handicap the landlords such that they cannot continue providing rental housing, the housing crisis becomes more pervasive and is more difficult for a wider group of people to recover.

We did not see dead homeless folks being pickup off the streets during the pandemic, there is a point when these folks either pay up or move on

I’m trying to figure out what they did with their unemployment and stimulus check. Don’t feel sorry for them. A large proportion of renters purposely choose not to pay their rent and the cases are already high for the delta variant so that’s not an excuse.

But have no fear about flooding the southern border. Lol

It’ll force people to show up to work and actually do work while they are there, how horrible!

Please provide us factual, unbiased data showing the exact number of homeless people who are suffering from or who have suffered from COVID. Give us factual information for the assertion that homelessness causes COVID. Give us FACTS as to why people should continue to live rent-free. I'll wait.

Millions are in foreclosure alone and I don't even know the rent #'s...Mass demand will cause high rent costs also for people whose credit is shot so I don't even know where there going...

If these housing advocates feel so passionately about it, they should go ahead and personally pay for these people’s rents on their behalf. Put their money where their mouth is.

It’s going to lead to homelessness. That’s all
