Hey guys!

Here's a tutorial from us on 5 essential tips to perform the Tornado.

This way you can get more underground superduper mega exclusive card flourish tutorials from the virts like huron low, kevin ho, and daren yeow! =D

Don't subscribe to naughty people who expose card flourishes, or tricks from david blaine, criss angel, cyril takayama, derren brown, and even dynamo... they've got nothing about awesome card flourishes, and only reveal magic tricks!!

You see for us, we'll even talk about xcm and cardistry even though we think it's pretty cheesy... and if you've read till here, there's even stuff about bone ho, and dan and dave, de'vo, theory11, decknique, penguin, ellusionist or other random stuff like high stakes poker on daniel negreanu that hopefully helps you bump into this video on youtube. =D

You can even hurry us for more kickass underground card flourish videos, tutorials, stuff about so-called xcm, cardistry, or even poker to texas holdem.

For Practice Tip 3A:
1. Practice with a deck with good corners to help the spin.
2. Practice first without the bottom and top packets and just with the middle packet aka the packet spinning.
3. Do the previous tip with the hand coordination tip of the video

Standard, air-cushioned cards would probably be your best bet, as it is not just the weight but the friction (or lack thereof) between the cards that affects your flourishing efficiency.

In the case of this video Daren is using Aladdin 1001s, which are actually plastic coated. In the case of a cut this is usually fine, though if you're gunning for more spread-wise flourish such as fans you're better off with a Tally-Ho deck or something similar.

It used to be taught in Ashford Kneitel's Tornado Cut DVD, but unfortunately that's been sold out for a while.

Had the same problem when I first learned this. Just keep practicing and you will get used to it and it will come natural. Also a tip that helped me was to try and minimize the movement of one hand. That helped me so maybe it will help you.

Great tutorial. Thank you. Although you make it look a lot easier than it is for me right now. But the one lesson i have learned in my attempt to be a cardist is that every move is so hard until you practice it a bit, then it suddenly becomes easier and easier until you wonder why you had a hard time with it in the first place.

Because the move is by Ashford Kneitel. What we're offering in this video is just our advice on how to make your handling of it better :)

Don't get me wrong, I am personally going to use this method, which is far superior, however in something as smooth and slow as pandora, (eg. as seen in spring jam 07) the speed (and illusion ;D) of this flourish would look out of place.

But this will be replacing my current tornado, and i cannot thank you enough for helping rekindle my love of such a beautiful move. Cheers,

Joe

Try holding the 4-6 card packet with a lighter grip; that way, it makes it easier for the cards to spin once your ring finger initiates the movement.

That's a blue non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001, which Daren copped from me.

If you aren't able to cop a deck from me, though, I would suggest Dan and Dave Buck's site—they stock the non AC Aladdins for pretty reasonable prices.

You probably want to position the corner of the packet so that it's directly in the most fleshy area of the pinky, but not with a grip that's so hard that the packet has no looseness to spin with. It's a bit of a knack, but once you get used to it it'll be just like riding a bicycle. Especially if you *are * using Bicycles.

As mentioned in the description, "This is not a tutorial on how to do the move itself, but rather the little details that maximize the visual quality of the card flourish."

If you were looking for a slow-motion explanation of the flourish, then we're sorry to say that this is not it. However, if you were looking for a collection of tips to improve your technique and handling of it, then you've definitely come to the right place :D

Instead of a green screen, you can just get a large black background to film against. That way, there is no need to key anything out, and you don't have to worry about lighting the background either :)

Actually, you can use this method of the tornado cut within any cut that utilizes it. Not just only when performing the tornado cut on its own.

We won't want to be limiting ourselves now would we? ;)

@MrPanichou Those are blue, non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001s.
