Wreck of the Antonov An-225 Mriya

It was sad to see the destroyed Ukrainian Antonov AN-225 Mriya when I visited the Hostomel airfield near Kyiv last month. The Antonov AN-225 (1985) was once the heaviest aircraft in the world. It was meant to transport the Soviet space shuttle (Buran). The aircraft was destroyed by the Russians in March 2022. Ukraine is salvaging remnants of the wreck and will use these to complete a second unfinished An-225. Hopefully it will fly again. A tribute to all the Ukrainian pilots killed during the war. #standwithukraine #avgeeks
