Interesting lyrics that already, even in this short portion of a verse it's _exactly_ what I've been talking about for years. Quite a few years;)
In the USA criminals (guilty, innocent but found guilty unfortunately happens far too often) have to wear a tracking bracelet around their ankle. An ankle bracelet.
So I've used Orwell's 1984 as an example of how nobody wants to wear an ankle bracelet. Having your every move tracked by the authorities right? You cut it off and they know? If you're on "House Arrest" ; forced to stay at home lest you be reincarnated for a period of time decided by the courts. Then the day comes when you're liberated and, no longer have to where it .
You'd be overjoyed! You can finally go where you like without anyone tracking every move you make.
But, what if you could get people to fall in love with a tracking device. Something that not only tracks your movements but, tracks your shopping habits, your interests, what books you're reading, what songs you're listening to, who you're talking to and what you're saying, what you're buying, something that can _watch_ you!? Most everything we do, we do online using our cell phone right!?
It's actually a super computer that happens to make phone calls, we refer to them as phones but, they're so much more right? It was a phone initially, very convenient! Something reserved for the wealthy or for James Bond but, as they morphed into these omnipresent super computers and became accessible to everyone people "freely" wait in line to get the newest improved one without concerning themselves with the nefarious side of their beloved "phones".
Now we have felt the effects of the "Soma" and, we quite literally have mental health problems if something happens to your beloved phone.
Battery low "I NEED TO GET TO A CHARGER, MY PHONE IS ABOUT TO DIE!!", "THE WI-FI IS OUT!", "I FORGOT MY PHONE, IM LOST, I _NEED_ TO GET IT"!!"
In any case I'm digging where you're headed with this song already. Always pulling for you guys and, the live version of Seasons sounded awesome! Not every band holds up live but, you guys "you got your number down " to borrow a lyric from Billy Squier - The Stroke;)
