reMarkable Type Folio: Initial Impressions

Over the last few months, reMarkable has been adding typing support to its tablet, and it's caused a little bit of a stir with a bunch of people asking why would they do this? And I think all of that is starting to make sense now with the announcement of the new Type Folio. In this video, we'll take a look at the type folio and see what that means for remarkable owners.

My professor releases notes, which already have some contents on it before lectures. so it’s very easy to just download the PDF from the mobile app which it’s released on, and then transfer it over to the reMarkable with the reMarkable app on the phone. that’s my use case and I’m glad that the option exists.

i strictly use the mobile app to upload pdf's to the tablet for reading later. i've been consuming a lot of research papers since i got it last year and sometimes there will be a random topic i want to read up on so rather than downloading the pdf onto my phone to never be read i can share it directly to the remarkable app from the iOS share screen.

The most interesting feature seems to be the ability to type and revise with the pen. Have to see how that feature works in practice. Clearly the company felt they had to expand their appeal from the simple pencil on paper design. The only drawback may be adding the weight of the keyboard to the tablet, especially if you now use the device for quick and easy note taking. Battery drain will be another issue. I know I am likely to try it out and some point.

Good video. The desktop app is not that great at typing, so I can't expect much better from the Type Folio. Looking forward to your review. The main issue is that the typed text cannot be manipulated as drawing objects. I can't add text blocks at arbitrary locations on the page, or select the whole object to be shrunk or enlarged.

just a short question: Why trhis short struggle with the "connect subscription". Its free. So I don´t get the point. Other content creators also mentioning this part with a bit of struggle.
