I immediately subscribed. I agree with everything you said. ❤ Karenin is also my favorite character and I think most of his decisions were justified, I had no sympathy for Anna cause she was constantly changing her mind on what to do and Karenin gave her a way out but she didn't take it. I liked Anna in the beginning but later lost sympathy for her, especially the way she treated her son after meeting Vronsky.

Starting the new year with an absolute classic. I first read Anna Karenina during my first year at university, and it's probably one of the greatest books I've ever read. The characters are very complex and deep. My favourite is probably Levin because I found him very relatable. And Karenin was put in a difficult situation and I felt sorry for him.

About the video format; I usually listen/watch these videos while doing something else, so I'm fine with it being more long format. But, whatever works for you and the algorithm.

Call me old-fashioned, but I have a very negative view of cheating and divorce. So it was a bit difficult for me to sympathise with the characters at first. But, the characters are so well written and complex, I ended up having a love/hate relationship with most of them. Apart from Levin. Levin is best boy.

Your idea about Anna's autonomy is interesting, and I think cheating was her way of rebelling against the constraints placed on her. But on the other hand, when Anna is given autonomy, she makes some questionable decisions. I hadn't really thought about it until you brought it up. But, that's what makes Anna Karenina a classic; there are so many themes and ideas you can pull from it.
