I’ll never forget being 8 years old and making my Sims woohoo in TS2. That inevitable, unskippable cut scene would come up and I would be TERRIFIED my parents would see or hear it so I’d turn the monitor off and cut off the speakers until I thought it was safe. 😂

I stand by the fact that the Sims universe as a whole is very progressive. I mean, being gay is very normalized, and hell, no one even gives a shit about supernatural creatures. We should strive to be as accepting as sims.

In regards to the Veronaville male sims having a preferance to men:
There is a theory that the reason for that is because back in the times of Shakespeare, women were not allowed to perform as female characters, so female characters had to be performed by men (in dresses and make-up!). So the male sims in Veronaville having a preferance to men is believed to be a funny little nod to men in drag in Shakespeare's plays!
(An additional little fun fact: Women were not allowed to perfom as female characters, but they were allowed to perform as male characters, so you also has crossdressing women in Shakepseare's plays!)

I was playing The Sims with my dad the first time I got the dancer cake. I too just wanted a huge cake, and boy were we surprised when there was no huge cake after all :(

I love how after "sexuality" we see Penny Pizzaz. The true woohoo icon i guess.

Fun fact: same-sex relationships were supposed to be removed from Sims 1 (they were initially planned, but then scrapped), but one developer accidentally used an old design document that included them, so after they added it, the team didn't see a reason to remove it.

As a bi trans guy, I really don't want there to be protests for equal LGBT+ rights. Protests would mean there's something wrong with LGBT rights. I like the way the Sims is, where everyone is accepted without question. There's no homophobia, transphobia, or sexism, it's wonderful.

sorry if i sound like a bigot (i'm a gay man myself btw), but i think that the gameplay mechanic of lgbt rallies and "fighting for equality" would defeat the whole scenario of representation in the sims. these virtual people live in a society where noone bats an eye if you're gay, bi, lesbian, straight, even genderfluid, trans or anything in between... i mean, the sims 1, a game that came out 20 years ago (as you said), introduced same sex couples seamlessly without mocking or scrapping them, something unheard of at the time... so adding fights for equality when equality is right there feels kind of pointless. i repeat, i'm not saying i hate these things in real life, but in the sims noone hates anybody for sexualities and gender

As a queer person myself I actually LOVE that there is no prejudice in the gameplay. The sims don't have to protest because being queer in this world is seen as normal and honestly that is the best representation I could hope for from any video game, it's an utopia, really. When they gave us that free gender update I legit started crying. I know that there is a mod that lets you come out as queer, because people wanted more "realism", but realism isn't really why I play this game (featuring aliens and other non-realistic things). People already tend to be bigoted towards me in real life, so I couldn't be more grateful for a game that lets you play as a queer sim, who doesn't NEED to come out. Because here the queerness is the status quo.

Okay but when you said the first same sex couple in the Sims 4 was with Island Living... did you forget about the gay couple with a dog in Cats & Dogs? :(

In the sims 3 in Sunset valley if you left the Single moms household alone for awhile at some point Fiona and Molly will be in a relationship together.

I love that Leod prefers men and so many women are so into him. It’s hilarious.

The first same sex relationship in the Sims 4, to my knowledge, is Brent and Brant hecking. They came with the Pets expansion which came out before Island Living.

I like the subject a lot. Can you consider making videos with similar topics such as death, parenting, ghost, aliens, or other more expanded topics rather than families?

Sims 4 is a very peaceful game for even make protests for equal rights or transition (even this game doesn’t have thiefs)

I wish they kept memories in sims 4 :/ they were my favorite especially when looking back when the sim became an elder.

My guess on why the male sim slaps the female sim because she tries something... different lol! ☝️

The Sims 3 had a few more characters who were implied to be gay!

In Sunset Valley, Gobias Koffi's bio states that he hasn't found the right woman yet, and suggests that maybe he'll find he prefers the company of other men.

Twinbrook (the town that came with Ambitions) has a household consisting of two women who have recently become housemates; they sleep in single beds pushed together to look like one bed, and their household bio suggests their becoming roommates might take their friendship to "unexpected places."

The Store town Aurora Skies has the Valquist household, consisting of two men who are Best Friends Forever, as well as the adopted daughter of one of the guys. The family bio states the two men are inseparable, and the little girl's last name is a mashup of both of their last names, so a lot of players feel they're implied to be gay lovers.

As mentioned, the town of Roaring Heights includes the Sims series' first official same-sex relationship, Dylan and Audrey Shear and their son. (Their family bio makes mention of scientific advances making it possible for two women to have a biological child together.) There are also other Sims in Roaring Heights who are married to Sims of the opposite sex, but involved in romantic affairs with Sims of the same sex.
