I am 75 and I have been so fortunate to have lived through the most wonderful musical years and been lucky enough to have seen them all from The Beatles in 1963 to Rush in 2014

I was born in 68, my parents were Floyd fans before my birth. I’ve lived with Floyd my entire life. I can tell you that Gilmour’s voice is like a part of nature to my ear like the wind blowing, the sea crashing, leaves rustling or the birds chirping.

I read a David Gilmore quote in a magazine once, said if he could re-record any album that it would be “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” and the only thing he’d do different would be to “remove the 80’s”. I got a laugh then, and am astonished to see a remix track from that album today on 2019. Awesome stuff.

Gilmour can do things with a guitar that other people can only dream of doing.

My friends and I camped out outside the local disc jockey record store the night aMLoR was released. The store opened at Midnight to sell them. There must have been 300 people there that night, laughing, talking, playing PF music. It was a wonderful experience/memory. Over the next 3 years I wore out 4 cassettes of aMLoR. Still love every single song on it (well dogs of war is a bit much but I still like it). If I had close to $400 to spend on something that wasn't a necessity I'd be buying this! Maybe one day I'll find it on eBay cheaper.

"Yet Another Movie"- the most powerful track of the album.

You will always know a Gilmore riff when you hear it, very distinct and like no other. Pure genius.

Sorrow is the best track from "A Momentary Lapse of Reason"

Just the sound of Gilmour sets you in a universe of goosebumps and revival. Every time.

I am picking my jaw off the floor. This is a fantastic track, with Rick's organ and Nick's drumming. Pink Floyd this is.

Saw them twice in 1994. Didn't have the best seats but still felt the whole stadium rumble to the intro of this song and it was incredible.

"Sorrow" is a favorite PF composition. Love Gilmour's unique guitar sound in "Sorrow, " definitely one of Pink Floyd's best!

The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers
But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
He's chained forever to a world that's departed
It's not enough, it's not enough
His blood has frozen and curdled with fright
His knees have trembled and given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered
One world, one soul
Time pass, the river roll
And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be
There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder than words
Of promises broken

My mother passed last year, through her love of PF ...I learned to love them as well. I bought David Gilmore's solo album and I don't have tons of guitar knowledge but I do know what sounds good. The sounds he makes, the quality, the mesmerizing riffs...I think he is the best that ever was... ( I'm a huge fan of Gary Moore too ♥️✌🏼)
Love love this song, I don't think you can break down their massive body of work and say This or That was the best! ..but I am very fond of Shine on crazy diamond. 💖
