THIS VIDEO IS SPONSORED BY LOGITECH G & SO AM I!

Today I'm reviewing the new Logitech G Powerplay wireless charging system. It is a very complicated device that makes use of electromagnetic inductive coupling technology in the best of possible ways. Basically, you can use a wireless mouse with ZERO delay, zero lost connections, and no discharging. The system charges the mouse forever. This review focuses on the technology mostly but also easy of use, setup, and criticisms near the end.

Thank you for this video, I bought the G903 mouse and pad at the same time about 2 weeks ago. I opened the mouse first and installed the weighted coin, but thought this was how the pad communicated with the mouse. I had no idea the pad had its own mouse insert for powerpad charging, so I thought I had a faulty pad. No other video I could find showed this and I assumed I had a duplicate USB charger and duplicate mouse insert.

I'll have a quick go at explaining the science. Here we go:

When current passes through a wire, a magnetic field is made. Coiling the wire amplifies the field. Simple logic concludes that if a magnetic field acts on a wire or coil of wire, a current is generated, directly converse to the former. Therefore, you can charge or pass a current through anything with a magnetic field nearby. Pretty cool, right?

I think this was a good review. I thought on getting this myself few weeks back, but after research I ended up buying the older g403 with much cheaper price. In 3-5 years I could see myself using something like this though.
Anyways, I think this review makes the research on this subject much easier for someone thinking about mouse upgrade.

2nm is VERY small. This magnetic field is definitely much larger.

They should do this with more of their mice. I use a G602, but I'd like to see them do it with the MX Master, G502, G602, etc.

you are the very first? I saw a review on linustechtips that also talked about this and also was a little early

Is that old laptop available for purchase Drift0r? Mine has kicked the bucket recently and I need a new one for the upcoming semester at uni. I'll pay for shipping and whatnot. Name a price and I'll try to match.

If you are wondering how he got a Logitech sponsorship, he was sponsored by Astro, but Logitech bought Astro, so that’s how.

I love the Technology Drift0r, but it just seems like it would be expensive and unnecessary for me to use while gaming or streaming. Loved the review anyway.

I really hope they make a extended mouse pad version in the future

Drift0r, you're a mechanical engineer, you should know that a changing magnetic field will create a inducted current, thus charging the mouse.

The idea is definitely cool but I'm personally not seeing the benefit over a wired mouse. Both take a USB slot anyway. Definitely seems like a step up from having to charge wireless mice if that's what you're usually using but it doesn't seem to beat wired in any way.
