Great video review. Love the sound of a honkin' V-8!

I've never been a Ford kinda guy especially from a automotive technician point of view but theres something about the Raptors bring out the inner child in me.

I work at a Ford dealership, have driven both of these generation trucks... The newer one has more tech and a slightly better laid out interior, and I think it looks better. But the older one just feels a little more special, it's hard to describe it. I think the 6.2L V8 has a lot to do with it, MUCH better sounding engine to go along with the aggressive look. Both very cool trucks!

The new raptors just look better tho. The front stance is just a more clean polished design compared to the first gen.

I have an 2011 Molten Orange Raptor, super cab, loaded. Full stainless works exhaust, headers to the dual tail pipes. No V 6 Raptor sounds like mine. Pro tuned, BFG Radial KO 2-35s on bead lock rims, K&N CAI, numerous bolt ons too. You can keep the new ones, I get compliments on mine every single time I take it out. To each their own.

If you listen closely, he's NOT just trading trucks for the (less powerful but better sounding) V8 engine.
He's planning a lot of mods that would not be "financially" wise on that new $70k truck.
He's buying the older one because it won't be a financial loss to do major modifications.
He wouldn't be getting $60k for his 1 year old truck if he had major modifications that altered it much from factory.

He'll need to do engine work to the older one to get the performance of the 3.5 EB.

I just happen to have a 3.5 EB in my personal truck and a 6.2 V8 in my work truck.
So I get to drive both on a regular basis. 😁

I did the SAME THING. Sold my '17 V6 for a '14 6.2 V8. Love the fact that I did it. V8 is the way to go with a Raptor.

I did the same thing! Sold my black Gen 2 for a white 2014 Gen1. The Gen 2 has beautiful amenities and features but does NOT have the engine sound of the V8 Gen 1.
Love my 2014.

2014 raptor with 75k miles on it for 30? I think that’s pretty good honestly

15-20% financial loss after one year of ownership is massive for that 2019. The dealership is going to turn around and sell that truck for just under 70, I guarantee it.

Amazingly enough I did the SAME thing. I sold my 2017 Raptor for a 6.2L SVT Raptor Gen 1. Better sound, and I prefer a V8.

And remember, the power rating eventually went to 415HP. Ford decided to go off of 93 rating vs the 91 octane rating. It was like 408 for 87 octane. 411 with 91 octane. 415 with 93 octane.
Oh and I love my 13’ Tuxedo Black Raptor. Gets compliments all the time.

I 100% agree with you. Unless you live 1000 feet above sea level, there is no reason for the twin-turbo. In the South, unless you live is Asheville, NC, you do not need a turbo. I hate to say this, but I bet the V8s are going to skyrocket in value. Just when I wanted to buy I would repaint the Gen 1st to white.

I love the sound of a v8, but the newer Raptor is such an improvement. Besides my wife would appreciate the quite of the v6. With the turbo I certainly would not be short on power.

If you were ever wondering who the heck is shelling 70k for a pure joy ride truck this video gives a pretty good idea. And I thought ( clearly wrongly) that skiing is an expensive hobby!

2 things wrong with the current raptor. The price and no V8. Other then that its awesome.

Drove the 2019 and it was wicked. BUT, I totally agree here. The V8 is more desirable. Naturally aspirated is desired for me.
