There's a lot of misconception with these unbranded, early-release SJ4000s. Not everyone realizes that the first batch of cameras produced did not have the branding of "SJCAM," the company which makes these cameras. In fact, during the initial run of SJ4000 cameras, there wasn't even a company named "SJCAM." They were called the Shenzhen Hongfeng Century Technology Company. Smartly, they decided to brand themselves as SJCAM due to the number of fake SJ4000s that were starting to flood the market.

All this to say that this is indeed a REAL SJ4000 camera! The SJCAM company refers to these early batch cameras as the "SJ4000 Basic."

The first SJ4000 that was released by the SJCAM actually does not have the name on it, and you're right on that! The name marked SJCAM are just available to the newer generations. One great "Hint" that you can tell your SJ4000 is fake is if the lens on it is just FLAT, and not BULGING OUT, (I saw your cam, and I can tell its lens is bulging, means original). It's just the first or the old generation. The SJ4000 now, the latest update has a large 2 inches display. with the SJCAM mark.

Question... does the 12volt adapter reduce voltage to 5 volts. I mean, you can just put 12 volts to it, right?

Hey can someone tell me what settings did he use?? i got my sjcam nonwifi and its not that clear, when i upload my video in youtube it got pixelated and that sucks. Please someone help me, thank you!

I wasn't sure about what to buy so i went for one called the EKEN W9, lol, that way i don't get a SJ4000 copy, RSM8.

You know it's interesting what you mentioned about people having this kind of knee-jerk reaction to something they see. It's different than a troll, but still an occasional downer. Really, these guys just mean that there was some fault in the presentation of the video.

Though, I've had guys think I was outright trying to lie to people when I made some sort of small misstatement. Knee-jerks don't think things through, just comment first riding that feeling.

The worst one I had was for my 'Motards vs. Adventurers' video, which some guy judged by the cover and went on a rant without watching. Saying, "You can't pigeon-hole riders, you're just making a division between people, some guys just like the bikes..." and so on, with lots of profanities of course. Had he watched he would've seen the video was the complete opposite of his presumptions.

I think we have at least 15 manufactures under different names selling the SJCAMs here, but i don't really think that it matters tbh ;)

makes me feel good.... I remember getting the original firmware from the SJCAM site ;-) I love my sj4000 it was the first camera I got and is still going strong even after all the abuse it has taken over the years :-)

Yeh man, I guess ya gotta be careful these days. There's loads on eBay and you get what you pay for, so I always do as much research as possible. Saw a Honda shadow at my latest bike night, though it might have been you making a surprise visit, lol. Gave you a little mention anyway.
