This awesome knot has all kinds of uses. It's very strong and will NOT let go. I used it to secure hoses to fittings for a network of soaker hoses on my raised garden beds. 1/8" braided polyester (it's UV resistant and low stretch - NOT polypropylene!) pulled very tight with marlinespike hitches on each side, then you can cut the ends close the the knot. A few bucks for the cord saved me a lot of money on hose clamps. They held for years.

You can use it like a zip tie, especially when you don't have the zip tie you need on hand. Depending on the type of rope or cord you use, it will be much stronger and more durable. But it's very hard to untie. Plan on cutting it to remove it, so don't tie it tightly in rope you care about.

If you tie it with a working end, you can finish it with a quick release loop. That's about the only way to untie it easily. I've tied it that way to tie cloth sacks shut with it so I can open them again.

It's a very important and handy knot to have in your arsenal.

It looks like a clove hitch, but there's an extra tuck under there does the magic.
