I learned it about 30 years ago when I bought Clifford Ashley's book. I use it occasionally. It's a great knot if you're not worried about having to untie it.

My personal favorite knot is the magician's knot, where if you pull both ends it unties itself.
Its really handy for bags of stuff in the freezer, no fiddling with a frozen knot, just pull both ends, take some slices of bread from the bag and tie it back up.
