Clever Tool Use You Wouldn't Expect #shorts

Here is a clever tool use you wouldn't expect! What I am using are Martinez Tools Stair gauges, and yes you could use your finger, and it would be good enough most of the time but this makes it extremely consistent and is installed in a heartbeat so why not?

I needed to rip a 1/4" off the edge of this treated board and didn't feel like getting my table saw out, but I needed an accurate and consistent cut.

“How did you lose your finger?” “Well, I was ripping a board just like this, and ……. damn, there goes another one!”

I used to use one of these all the time! After about a decade or so I decided to retire from woodworking, having no fingers made it kinda hard

For anyone wondering what they are… they are call stair gauges for framing square.. but also can be use the way he is using them ( not the hand possession thats just stupid) to guide a circular saw ..

Try going faster, it doesn’t sound like the saw is working hard enough

There's a handle on top of the saw for a reason. If you'd ever had one bind up and jump, you'd get the picture.

That's a good thing if the edges of the board are straight and not warped

He's not the only one I've seen do it but man, it makes me nervous with his hand so close to the blade.

Cutting shims like that is badass!, wish I used this while my boss wasn’t looking 😃

what's happened to those adjustable sleds/guides that you could put in a slot at the front of the table? My 30 year old Makita, ancient unknown saw, and 10 year old Ozito all have them

Me seeing this: Wow, looks unsafe.
Me, reading comments: Well, now I know why many carpenters are missing fingers.

I have finally found the light. I never would have expected that a saw was used to actually cut pieces of lumber

Wish we could see how straight the cut is/ it’s what ever the board was / any type of edge guide is only as good as the edge

Oh, I gonna buy that red and black thing you attach to a circular saw. You know, that red and black thing.

That's a slick little gadget. What is it and where can I get one. I normally pinch the plate with my thumb and index finger to do a rip like that. Looks a little safer your way lol.

Martinez tools are Awesome! That’s a smart idea for a Stair Gauge use.
