The anti-routine...[what billionaires use to win]

How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Literally discussed 2 of these points with my husband today. Me "learning more" is a form of procrastination. And tired of everyone reaching out for an implied ask. Done and done. I don't consume any social media with the exception of watching Alex videos for my daily dose of insight. Pumped about this.

•Two things cannot be equally important.
•Delete social media and just access from the computer to post 🤯
Simply said…. Thank you

That was actually good advice, funny thing is as a recovering self-help addict I realized that many self-help methods just keep you occupied without being actually productive.

If you want to do something you have got to commit to it 100% and prioritize it over all other things, even if those other things are self help methods.

It took me a while to realize that but now I focus 100% on my Filmmaking career and I could finally deliver the last months

Love the concept of saying no to weekends & especially keeping the same bedtime (at least, for a season.) Thanks for sharing, Alex.

You have literally changed my life, I thought I was going crazy and becoming a terrible person but I’m just coming to terms with the fact 99% of people I’ve surrounded myself with just don’t think past today, in my own opinion but of course I could be wrong!

I've seen this guy's videos on youtube, but have only started watching them. The season of no video was powerful. Tomorrow is day 39 of a 40 day water fast I have been on since I had a moment of clarity in my life 39 days ago.

I woke up on a Sunday morning, upside down on my bed, hanging halfway off, hungover, after a saturday night that wasn't even too bad, considering my other wild weekends.

I felt alone and disgusted with myself. I realized that for years, I've given my all to everyone around me, and nurtured their lives when they had absolutely nothing, only to realize that when you help people to their feet, that's when you find out if their hearts are genuine, or if they will be there for you when they have the means to stand on their own two feet.

I found out the hard way, that wasn't the case.

I had a moment of clarity in that moment on the bed, looking out through barely open blinds, where a very bright sun was shining through. Before this moment, all I could think of, was how many people were up, dressed, going out to church, brunch, and maybe to the beach to enjoy their wonderful week with friends and family. And here I was, thinking that I was going to lie in this bed all day and all night, depressed.

Then, not to sound cliche, but a loud voice spoke to me and gave me instructions for an entire reset. The first order of business was to fast for 40 days and 40 nights. This was a multi pronged approach to make a radical change in my life. And it had to be radical, or else I was going to fall into the endless cycle I always fell into when I made declarations of change in my life. So, I didn't tell anyone what I was about to do.

In fact, one of very first things I did with no hesitation was delete my Facebook account. I went to the store and bought me a 6 pack of Fiji water in the liter bottles, and up until now, I have only consumed water with electrolytes and select vitamins, such as a multivitamin, vitamin C, a B complex and nothing else.

I'll have 50lbs. lost in 40 days (at 38 now) and I have never had so much mental clarity in my life. I deleted all of my streaming apps, I bought an Audible subscription and now have over 20 books on there, I go to the local bookstore and have bought books, and have made a list of the top things I will accomplish. Every other goal is not in my thoughts anymore.

I gave up toxic relationships, bad food, alcohol, going out to events, and pleasing others.

I am hyperfocused on me and me alone.

I am not a simp, and no longer care who I offend for not doing things they want to do, loaning them money, or giving them my time.

I could go on, but see I have already written a small book in your comments. I just felt so passionate about this, that I hope that I could help inspire someone else to snap out of it, and build up yourself and your vision, and not be the supplement to others lives and building up their empire and not my own.

For people with ADD this is a life changer, I was going to skip the video because there's a lot of fake productivity gurus out there but the priority bit got me, thank you sir..

I think he just hit the nail on the head for the feeling I've had around wanting to cut back on social events and even deciding to scale back my time in the gym (which I love). Recognizing that I need to go all in on my career building right now.

I began cleaning up my life in 2019, I went to rehab got off the drugs and started working out regularly. The hardest thing for me was saying no to all the people who wanted to hang out, I still have issues with it 4 years later.

This is deep. I struggle with feeling obligated to reply to people. Growth in 2022 for me means to not feel obligated to reply unless their is value in our conversation and it doesn’t have to be monetary!

True. I was thinking I can do kids, business, housekeeping. The success recipe for burnout. Keeping things simple is focusing on the things that have the best impact in the long term.
And there are more nos to add. Thank you!

the most amount of growth and success, love and otherwise, was when i started cutting everything out and saying no. I was only left with what I cared about, wanted to do, and did. keyword, DID. I didn't make time to do what I wanted, I cut out everything I was doing to be only left with the same amount of time to do what I wanted. Big difference

so on point and love your no bs delivery. Loved "less information/consumption & simply more execution" part. I needed to hear that.

I doubled my business by doing this. I also burned out. Not because this necessarily leads to burnout. But because I had a very difficult client that was a huge pain that I didn’t get rid of sooner enough. Even a profitable client can end up being a net negative. Don’t do that. Love 💗

Every so often the algo shows you someone like Alex who succinctly reminds you of what you know but are internally resisting. This is exactly what I needed hear
