Bishop Hee-Soo Jung, United Methodist bishop in Wisconsin, has dedicated his life to the gospel and speaking for peace, reconciliation and unity. Elected bishop in 2004, Jung is the spiritual fruit of U.S. missionaries. Because of the dedication and sacrifices of American missionaries who came to Korea in the 1800s, the gospel spread across the country called “The Land of the Morning Calm.” Ganghwa Island is the hometown of Bishop Jung. American Methodist missionaries sowed the seeds of the gospel, which grew in every village on Ganghwa. Today, the small island has 125 churches in four districts.
