Moving from the S21 Ultra to the Fold 5 was something I never thought I'd do. I was sacrificing camera, battery life, and overall ergonomics. But as soon as I started using it, it really is a game-changer on how phones are used. As an architect, this phone is something that fits my job and personality.

I'm glad I decided to stick with the Fold 5 vs the pixel fold. I actually enjoy using the inner display vs the pixel fold. The lack of app optimization on pixel and the only form of multitasking being able to run two apps at once compared to the fold 5 is more noticeable than I thought. The speakers are MUCH better on the Fold 5 as well. Although I prefer the cleaner experience of pixel, They still have a bit of work on optimization

Honestly, Z Fold 5 is on another level. I feel like I'm carrying a Phone + Tab + Laptop! I upgraded from Note 9. Initially I had plans to shift to the IPhone 15! No regret!

I upgraded to the fold 5 coming from the S21 Ultra. I honestly love this phone.. particularly because of it being slim. Its a lot easier to hold one handed. Typing doesn't seem to bother me much. In fact, i find myself making less mistakes compared to my S21 Ultra. Im typing this comment unfolded and dont see any issues with it.

I've been an iphone user since the og and today I picked up the z fold 5, it is insane how easy it is to love this device. I strictly bought this device to pair with my 14 pro max. I wanted a media consumption device while travel instead of my iPad

Coming from Fold 4, Fold 5 does feel more sturdy and the battery life is better.

Some of things you mentioned that you do on the outer screen quickly are either better or fine on the narrower aspect.

Phone calls? Much easier to hold a narrow phone than a wide one. It’s why I hate holding my iPhone 14 Pro Max up to my head for a call.

Quick check of notifications? Easier with an easier to hold screen.

The challenge is really if you want to do a bunch of texting one-handed with the phone closed…

I've been hooked since the 3, had the 4 . Not huge improvements, but after 4 days of use . Brighter screen, better hinge (opening feels much better, With a notable slap sound, stronger ), personally loving the slim s pen case . (Never liked any case options for the 3 or 4, and hardly used it . having the phone fold flat is also a.huge deal, your right hinge is the most essential part of this phone and samsung has really refined every year.

For any of its downsides, slim front screen, photo lens, battery . The experience and tech is a thing of my wildest 1994 childhood dreams. I use the folds as my daily, and have had zero problems durability wise . I work in a pizzeria and flour inevitable, and en masse makes it into my work pants . Never had a problem with the 3 or 4 .

With the 6 I hope we get a wider display outside, bigger battery, s pen silo, top camera specs (top of then line phone Sammy!), creaseless display . Samsung has 5 years of z fold, and each iteration has improved on the last imo . Such a dope phone, I settled for icy blue, but almost pulled the trigger on the color you got, looks dope.

It's better than the Google pixel imo . And Apple has been releasing the same phone for 7 or 8 years now . 😮

Which UI are you using so as to get around 9-10 icons in your cover screen in the fold ??

i was gonna get this, but in the UK, the trade in offers were £100 less than the fold 4, and no free watch was offered, and the price increased by £100. Literally about to buy a fold 4 for abt £1250 instead :)

I havs a question about the fold 5. Can you use the s pen to take photos or record video with the cover screen or inner display?

I love it! From the cover screen to the inside, it's sleek and beautiful. No complaints whatsoever. I am one of the lucky ones who is not prone to error on typing on the front screen. The battery as you said, is very subjective. I personally don't care cause we are at a time where there are pocketable power banks anyways.

I have the s23 ultra and to me battery is more important and also that UHD 60 HDR 10 video is incredible. I just miss the micro sd card. For z fold 6 or 7 they have work to do making front the screen wider, s pen inside, better camera, better battery etc

Thanks for the re-review. We tend to overlook some stuffs Samsung does as they are already a pioneer. Zf5 is a great piece of tech.❤
BTW, I love Samsung because they are the only company keeping the prices of apple product reasonable.😅

Your take on it and mine as far as the narrow front screen, lackluster cameras and battery life are spot on. Widen the phone body just a little and add better S-series cameras, and a 5k or 6k mAh battery, and incorporate the S-Pen into the devise and Samsung would have the perfect phone. Those 3 changes would blow the doors off the sales.
I am running the Fold4 now and I'm upgrading to the Fold5. The reason it the Fold4 in having overheating issues that are causing the phone to shut down. If you don't get it off the charger within a couple minutes of it reaching 90% it shuts down. The phone will not even accept a 100% charge. If you use the big screen to watch videos or play games, it shuts down within 20 to 40 minutes. If you carry the phone in your pocket, it shuts down from body heat even if the phone is not in use.
I contacted Samsung and they said they would not be able to repair that type of problem. Their solution was to not charge the phone fully, and to avoid using the main screen, Don't play any games, and don't carry the phone on your person. What in the holy hell do they think people spend $2, 000 to buy a phone like this for? They buy it to use!!! They said to store the phone in a cool place, but it even shuts off in an airconditioned room or car. I'm thinking the problem is either the battery, or the CPU is overheating, or that it's not overheating at all, but the sensors are telling it that it's overheating and shutting the phone off. Once it shuts off, it takes an act of congress to turn it back on. You usually have to put it in the refrigerator and over cool it to get it to get past the boot up stage. The Fold5 is supposed to have a 38% bigger cooling chamber and better temp management.
I may be a fool for thinking the same thing with the Fold5 will get a better result... I think they call that insanity. If the result is the same and they don't stand behind their product any better than they have, they will be talking to my lawyer about it. Been a Samsung fan for 12 years now, but they are border line to losing a customer.
If anyone else has had overheating issues, I'd like to know. Thanks

Is that exclusive blue fold 5 less slippery without a case than the fold 4 was? I'm assuming it would be since the hinge and frame have a matte finish
