How to Grow Grass on Your Balcony

Left Tool had a landing on the stairs up to his man cave custom built to be able to hold dirt. We put gravel in the bottom to help with drainage. We planted rye grass so he would have green grass over the winter. We will see what type of grass we will need to replace it with when the lawn care season starts comes next year and it gets really hot because the rye grass will not survive in the summer heat.

No epdm rubber membrane under the soil will come back to haunt you. That metal decking normally rust out in about 10 I do a lot of grass roofs and I always put rubber membrane down first.. normally a 45 mil Firestone EPDM with 3-in seam tape if I need to seam it

All I can see are excess weight, metal that going to rust, an awkward place to lug a mower too, another spot to water and weed, and eventually a serious safety hazard.

Going to be real fun pulling the lawn mower up the steps every 10 days. And you can’t trim it because that will basically kill the grass.
