West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar, accompanied by other party leaders, led a protest on August 27 in response to the rape and murder of a medical student in Kolkata. The demonstrators chanted slogans and called for justice for the victim. The 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was found dead at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
